Bastille Day flypast 2019

Post by capercaillie »

For anyone attending the event a list of what to expect flying, marching or trundling past. Helicopters are shown well down the page.

Interesting to note the flypast includes a good number of foreign participants including two RAF Chinooks and a RAF Typhoon. Perhaps most interesting aircraft in the flyby appears to be the testbed Fokker 100, that would be nice to see pitching up at RIAT in exchange.

Wow, that's pretty impressive and itself makes a very good NATO flypast at the same time. All those Eurocopter Tigers! Interesting that the US aren't involved though given how impressed and inspired Trump was when he was at the Bastille Day celebrations.

Now that's a proper flypast. As suggested, if that could be repeated on 19-20th, there's your RIAT NATO flypast right there!! Magnifique.

To enjoy an unique point of view of this flypast, one can reach the "Grande Arche de la Défense" rooftop, that organizes a little event (with music & pay bar).
You have to book & pay in advance here : https://www.lagrandearche.fr/actualites/le-14-juillet-journee-exceptionnelle.

To be fair, on any day of the year, a mash up like that would be very impressive. Bravo France

Fair play that was a decent and long lasting flypast.

Doesn't seem right though that the PDF would be the first up. They should surely be the final team flying past.

PDF is always, or at least as far as I remember, first in the Bastille Day flypast.
It symbolizes the opening of the whole parade by unrolling the national flag.

In airshows, it is often the "Grand finale", but the context is different.

Impressive stuff, especially the mass approach of the helicopters.

Three of the four navy Rafales had special tails, can't make out the design on the monitors but must be some clearer images out there and some markings on the E-3F and A400M as well, other than that looked fairly standard fare, couldn't see the tails on the two outer Epsilons. Fokker 100 looked the business.
