Will probably give it ago and see what it's like. I think it starts next Thursday (27th)

Just a heads up that this airs on Yesterday Channel tonight at 9pm. First episode is about the restoration of a twin seat Spitfire.

And, from a personal point of view, very good it was too. Looking forward to the rest of the series. None of this 'false jeopardy' stuff, just nice factual, interesting information.

I enjoyed it. I'm pleased programmes like this get made.

Shame it is on such a low-def, low bit rate, fuzz-o-vision channel though... (at least on Sky anyway).

I thought it was very well done but agree on the picture quality of the channel! I'm assuming there's an HD version of the show that might be available to buy at some point.

I assume everything is filmed in HD these days?
(Why wouldn't it be?)

I can't say I noticed picture quality was an issue. I was watching on Freesat though and not Sky. Keep your eyes peeled in Episode 2 for yours truly.

It's not so much picture "quality" it's more about definition. Yesterday is only an SD channel not HD which is basically the difference between DVD and Blu-ray!

Same here. And I've set up to record the whole series just in case I forget it's on!

Yes and no... I don't have a problem with SD per se - a well created DVD can still look great. The problem is (presumably) the limited bandwidth that Sky allocate to channels like Yesterday. The bit rate is so low that whenever there is any movement the whole thing turns into a pixellated fuzz. There is not enough data to render a good quality image, regardless of dimensions. If anyone doubts it, watch the channel logos during a camera panning shot.

I don't know the technicalities of how satellite bandwidth is divvied up, but clearly there isn't enough. Even the HD channels on Sky became progressively less good as more of them came online. (I was an early adopter of Sky HD)

It's a shame for the programme makers, as I doubt they have any control over this once they strike a deal to have the programme broadcast. If I can find a better quality version I'll gladly watch that instead...

Was good alright. I enjoyed the briefings, with the Run run run if you see bits flying off it. Bit concerning for a lay person liek msyelf with that Fuel Pissing out the bottom of the chopper whilst airbourne!
Cheers
