Russian An-24 over UK today
Hey!
While looking at the adsbexchange radar earlier this afternoon, I noticed Antonov An-24 RA-46395 circling around near Lincoln for a while - any ideas why? Cheers!

One has just gone into Stansted. Picked it up over the channel. Does that mean there's more than one.

Re: Russian An-24 over UK today
Ah! Well it disappeared off the radar while circling, so maybe that's when it descended into Stansted.

Sorry no RA- An24 came into Stansted.
UR-CQE An26 came into Stansted and departed but later went to Southend.

The mystery remains then! Good to see An-24 / An-26s still flying around in the UK anyway.

No-one else has reported RA-46395 over the UK at any point, are you sure you're not seeing things?
Re: Russian An-24 over UK today
I think you've been looking at something with a miscoded box and the ADS-B database of HEX codes is getting confused !Skylinerworld wrote: ↑Sat 09 May 2020, 4:28 pmHey!

Well... I've just searched the reg on ADS-B again and now shows it circling around Stockholm, like it was over the UK, so no it was certainly there. (Whether the radar is wrong, is another matter).

Re: Russian An-24 over UK today
Skyliner...ADSB has a habit at times of showing spurious plots...an example is a few weeks ago when a Nigeria based DHL 737 was shown as approaching the UK from the Channel and also over Northern France at certain times spread over a few days when it was actually flying in Africa !
Another example is a CRJ900 of the French company HOP which kept appearing at roughly the same time everyday on and off for about 4 days just off the east coast near Clacton despite not actually being in UK airspace.
The AN24 at the weekend was an example of this...it actually at one point tracked as stationary over the same position in Lincolnshire at approx 4000ft for a minute or two.
Suffice to say it definitely was not in the UK.

Thanks for clearing that up Parsley, I did think it was an unusual one to be circling the UK, usually it's the small P68s and the like doing that!parsley wrote: ↑Sun 10 May 2020, 5:59 pmSkyliner...ADSB has a habit at times of showing spurious plots...an example is a few weeks ago when a Nigeria based DHL 737 was shown as approaching the UK from the Channel and also over Northern France at certain times spread over a few days when it was actually flying in Africa !

Re: Russian An-24 over UK today
Just to add ADSB was a few moments ago showing GHL110/9H-AGL a 737 freighter tracking eastbound over East Sussex and Kent, whereas in reality it's over Ghana !Skylinerworld wrote: ↑Sun 10 May 2020, 6:13 pmThanks for clearing that up Parsley, I did think it was an unusual one to be circling the UK, usually it's the small P68s and the like doing that!parsley wrote: ↑Sun 10 May 2020, 5:59 pmSkyliner...ADSB has a habit at times of showing spurious plots...an example is a few weeks ago when a Nigeria based DHL 737 was shown as approaching the UK from the Channel and also over Northern France at certain times spread over a few days when it was actually flying in Africa !

On another note,
Did anyone see the AN 124 that went into Heathrow Saturday?
ADSB Showed it as UR-82029.
Mark.

Re: Russian An-24 over UK today
Just searched it on Flightradar and it says it went into Stansted that day, did it show Heathrow elsewhere?

This was the Screen Grab,
Was on the Heathrow route into lambourn but I guess it could off turned right to Stansted but very much not the normal route if it did end up in stansted.

Re: Russian An-24 over UK today
It was collecting 2 new AW.139s for delivery to the Cayman government or whatever they call themselves. Registrations were VP-CHE & VP-CHQ, mainly white with a twin black line along the side. They arrived at STN around midday on Thursday 7th
