Buzzards arrive at the Heath 03-03-22

Star’n’bar on “our” F35?

Great set.
I’m probably going to be told I’m wrong on this but…
I can recall reading about when Germany used to conduct all its OCU activity in the US - the semi-permanently deployed Phantoms had to wear US markings. As do Singapore F-16s at Luke.
Something to do with a US law that American produced military aircraft have to wear US markings whilst based in the US/or until they are delivered.

Re: Buzzards arrive at the Heath 03-03-22
Are Polish Air Force C-130s regular visitors to Lakenheath or is their arrival simultaneous with a bunch of F-16s non-coincidental?
Re: Buzzards arrive at the Heath 03-03-22
More likely to be connected with the fact that the 493rd FS F-15Cs are deployed to Lask in Poland at the moment

Most likely depends on whose release to service clearance it's being flown under. All the other UK markings and the serial are visible, so I'd guess that the single US marking is enough to identify it as temporarily US and therefore be able to use a US delivery pilot, otherwise can't see why it would be necessary. Foreign F35s in the US currently seem to at least mostly wear their own national markings, so probably the German and Singaporean permanently based aircraft are/were under US RTS rather than national, hence the markings.boff180 wrote: ↑Fri 04 Mar 2022, 1:47 amGreat set.
