It seems to have gone rather quiet here, is this fly-in still in the offing or has it been canxed? I attended the "Gathering of Moths" meet at Old Warden in September last year, was amazed at the number of aircraft that showed up and thoroughly enjoyed the occasion, so naturally would like to repeat my experience. My plan is to visit OW on the Saturday for this one, then attend the BoB show at Duxford on Sunday. So to avoid a wasted journey, I need to know if the Moth Meet is still going ahead or not?

it's advertised on the Shuttleworth.org website and you need a ticket to attend.
Unless you are a member you now need a 30 day ticket at £17.50 (almost cheaper to join but maybe that's the idea)

Thanks Andy, at least it's still happening then. I believe the "Diamond Nine" are on the bill at Duxford (wonder if they're likely to put in an appearance at OW?).

I thought that £17.50 is the normal admission this year

Quite possibly Orion but the 30 day thing is how I read it (and it's in the link)so possibly they are trying something a bit different. I had to read it two or three times to understand what it meant but I think I've got it right. As a member it's not something I would normally study in detail but I wanted to be right before I posted my previous reply.
as I said it's almost worth joining instead if you plan to visit regularly and maybe this is a cunning plan to encourage that.

Should be a good day but unfortunately I won't be able to make it this time round as I will be travelling back from mid Wales and visiting several airfields that are normally out of range as I travel.

I read somewhere (can't remember where) that the VAC are supposedly organising a fly-in to Warden on 27th August?

that's correct.
https://www.shuttleworth.org/product/vi ... craftclub/

and http://www.vintageaircraftclub.org.uk/calendar.php
extract: 'VAC invited to Old Warden. A special invitation to VAC members by air and road to spend a day at the Shuttleworth Collection and Gardens at Old Warden. Free entry with VAC membership card. Contact details later.'

and just to confuse me (and probably others further), under prices the shuttleworth site says

£17.50 Daily Admission - Adult
£0.00 Daily Admission - Special (Memberships/Carers)
£0.00 Daily Admission - Child (15 and under)
so I'm really not sure how this 30 day admission thing works, there doesn't seem to be any continuity. If the 30 day admission did apply for this ~(and I really don't understand it so I won't bite off the head of anyone who can explain it) then MY logic says you could get the 30 day admission for this and it would be valid long enough to include entry for the Moths event on the 11th ass well :confounded:

Shuttleworth have announced that they are running an informal fly-in of de Havilland types on September 11, as the DH Moth Club have cancelled their event.

Normal admission charges apply, so free to members and 30-day ticket holders.

Ah that's a shame, after the successful meet last year I was rather looking forward to a repeat performance. Heyho🙁

Mike, I think the De H Fly-In is on the 10th, not the 11th, of September according to the Shuttleworth site.
