Re: Bournemouth Air Festival 2022
The flying schedule is available online and in the app if you pre-order the programme brochure. I'm sure it will be subject to some alterations before the show though.
Re: Bournemouth Air Festival 2022
Looks like no MIG15 but the Yakolevs with a 5 ship a welcome Thursday addition.
Re: Bournemouth Air Festival 2022
The line up is not to bad but again the lack of jets is the difference between a good line up and excellent line up. Surely Norwegians the Swedish or strike master , L39 from Blackpool must be available. Maybe it’s funding or insurance the issue?
Re: Bournemouth Air Festival 2022
QQ - I have got the chance to see the Bournemouth Air Festival from on a boat between Bournemouth and Boscombe Piers - Is this the flight line for the display?? Plus is it worth doing??

Yes, the display line is between the piers though I can’t comment on what you’ll see from a boat. I’m sure you’ll get the Red Arrows overhead a few times but not sure about anything else

B52 added!!
Re: Bournemouth Air Festival 2022
Umm, suddenly a reason to go ! What day(s) please ?
Re: Bournemouth Air Festival 2022
apparently only Saturday just before the Reds display at 1630
was going anyway, camping at the excellent Hurst View campsite along the coast
even without the BUFF it's a great show, the twilight displays are a real bonus especially Brendan O'Brian

Re: Bournemouth Air Festival 2022
Do you think the B-52 will actually turn up? I am planning on going by train which is about 3 and a half hours one way for me.
Re: Bournemouth Air Festival 2022
Does anyone know which aircraft other than red arrows are taking off from Bournemouth airport? Thinking of going to viewing area instead of seafront for a change but not Sure if it’s worth it
Re: Bournemouth Air Festival 2022
Typhoon,BBMF plus other stuff I believe

Re: Bournemouth Air Festival 2022
Pretty much everything to the best of my knowledge - Reds, BBMF, Wildcat, Wingwalkers, Typhoon, Hawker Fury, P-47 and probably others.
And I don’t know if you’re aware but there’s no longer an official viewing area at the airport. Just the aviation museum and the airport perimeter road but of course that has many restrictions for the duration of the airshow.
Re: Bournemouth Air Festival 2022
I would have expected wildcat to transit to and from yeovilton and also typhoon to fly in for show only as the chinnock does. Any civil & reds I would expect to base themselves at airportJakub.Zurek wrote: ↑Fri 02 Sep 2022, 12:24 pmPretty much everything to the best of my knowledge - Reds, BBMF, Wildcat, Wingwalkers, Typhoon, Hawker Fury, P-47 and probably others.

Re: Bournemouth Air Festival 2022
If it’s B52s your after, is it not easier and less crowded to do Fairford. Notam suggests they are up tomorrow.Zoom wrote: ↑Fri 02 Sep 2022, 11:59 amBournemouth Air have confirmed it on their FB pagebobby 1211 wrote: ↑Fri 02 Sep 2022, 9:25 amDo you think the B-52 will actually turn up? Yes, you'll have the sun behind you the whole day so you wont spent all your time squinting into the sun!
Re: Bournemouth Air Festival 2022
BBMF have returned to Conningsby and have scrubbed their display today, due to the weather.

Re: Bournemouth Air Festival 2022
Not aircraft-related, but if anyone's at the BAF today ( or anywhere along the South Coast, for that matter ) and look out to seawards, they may catch sight of a group of Russian warships - including the Slava-class Cruiser 'Marshal Ustinov', sister ship on the 'Moskva' - transiting up through the Channel escorted/shadowed by NATO vessels.

Re: Bournemouth Air Festival 2022
Job done! a brief and very impressive B52 flypast but it did loop back to the IoW and looked like it was going to do another pass. It was much better to camp 2 nights get the train down (and cycle 200km back, something I do) and enjoy the whole day than spend the same £ driving up to Fairford for a random landing
It's a free show so you get what you get but this is way above most
Typhoon and Firebirds dusk displays were superb, reheat from the Typhoon lit up the sky. All the crowd did a Coldplay with their phones at the end of the Firebirds, apparently it was spontaneous on Friday but rehearsed last night.
Brendan O'Brien is certifiable! who else would strap that many fireworks to anything and then fly it?
really enjoyed the Warbirds too!

Re: Bournemouth Air Festival 2022
Is it just me or does the Typhoon dusk display seem so much more impressive then the day one.
Re: Bournemouth Air Festival 2022
The ''Coldplay with phones'' bit on the Friday was at the request of the commentator, and was nowhere near spontaneous I'm afraid. He asked people in the crowd to take part at the end of their display many times during the last few minutes of the Firebirds display.
