Couple of hours down at LHR this afternoon, with the intention of getting an A380 or two. Decided to wait for the runway switch and just stick to Myrtle Avenue.
Kuwait B777
Iran A330
BA 787
Singapore Triple
Emirates A380 was the only one that came in on 27L, missed all the others to 27R before the switch
Tight crop due to bad lensmanship
BA A319 in some marketing livery
Virgin Dreamliner
DHL still flying the A300!
Birds of a feather flock together...
Back to back B787/A350 arrivals allowed for a good comparison. Boeing all day, every day!
And last but not least, original 'jumbo' stole the show. The cargo version of the 800 is a bit awkward looking without the extended upper deck to balance the longer fuselage, but it's still a 747.

Great photos, although, just curious, what about the Boeing do you prefer over the A350? Apart from the windscreen (sorry don't know the correct term) they look almost identical in your two pics.

Some great pictures, love the tight crops. Just saying flown on both 350 and 787 and I would vote for the 350.

787 to me is better proportioned. I just prefer Boeings in general, I think across the range they're the better looking machines. The A330 is the only properly good looking Airbus IMO.

Great set Dan - a real splash of colour. Makes me want not to ignore commercial stuff so much.

A340 is better balanced with the four engines, except for the ridiculously long 600 series.LN Strike Eagle wrote: ↑Mon 03 Oct 2022, 9:07 pmThe A330 is the only properly good looking Airbus IMO.

Nice photos, I wish I got as much variety at Manchester! I actually really like the A350, it's probably my favourite airliner right now.

No better time of the year to be at Myrtle when the weathers as good as that...

Thanks chaps.
Have to say I enjoyed myself once the weather played ball - plenty of blue skies around and departures from 27R bathed in lovely autumnal light while arrivals at 27L were mostly in the shade until about 4pm. Heathrow is certainly helped by the amount of heavies though, Stansted is my local and can get incredibly dull.Wrexham Mackem wrote: ↑Tue 04 Oct 2022, 12:22 pmGreat set Dan - a real splash of colour. I still prefer the A330 but agree that the A346 looked quite odd, I remember Virgin Atlantic had them. I think an extended fuselage can ruin the aesthetics of many aircraft actually - the newer 777 versions look a bit gangly and even C-130s look far nicer with the stubbier fuselage.capercaillie wrote:A340 is better balanced with the four engines, except for the ridiculously long 600 series.
