Twin Engine GB- 1/48 T-38A Talon - now finished

Post by DerekF »

I've always wanted to build a NASA T-38 so when the the Wolf-Pack kit appeared I snapped one up. It was going to be a dual build but due to decal procurement cock-up it will just be this one for now (I ordered Thunderbird decals for a second T-38 but the decals are for the underscale Fujimi kit, not the newer kits).

Looks straightforward enough so I'll try and get a start this weekend.

Some preliminaries.

Now finished. Decent kit but a few gotchas when it comes to the position of some parts. The fit wasn't great in places but nothing that a bit of fettling didn't sort. Painted with initially a Humbrol gloss white spray but then finished with a coat of Halfords Appliance White. The decals were a joy to put on.
Anyway, here it is.

That is a really nice build mate.

The colours against the white are really sharp. Well done.

I don't think I'll have time. I have a 1/48 Hasegawa F-4E to do in Thunderbirds colours, a 1/48 Academy F-4B and I was going to see if my Revell 1/32 Lynx qualified as a twin. All these are quite complex kits so I doubt if would get them finished in time.
My next build is quite unusual though....

Love it. The Nasa fuselage strip extenuates the "coke bottle" shape.
