1/144 GB: Revell Boeing 787 - now complete

Post by DerekF »

The last of the last pair for the 1/144 GB.

Revell's Boeing 787-8. Rather than the prototype markings in the kit I've got a set of British Airways markings.

Looking at your decal sheet,it gives a reg of G-BDRM,this is a Chipmunk 22,which is no longer current.

You are right - tricky conversion to turn the kit into a Chipmunk. Perhaps I'll use the available decal sheet letters and make a valid BA 787 reg.

Thanks for pointing it out though

An small update.
These 1/144 kits come together quickly.

Nice engine detail but the spirals were tricky to put on.

Blue and silver applied.

Next step, landing gear then decals.

Now complete. Other photos in the GB finished build gallery. Nice kit but not impressed by the decals. The fin logo is all wrong and I don't think I painted the blue undersides far enough up the fuselage. Still, here it is.

Apologies to RAF4EVER for my sarcastic reply. It was uncalled for and I should have been pleased to get any comment at all.

Actually I withdraw my apology. Your other picky comment on the other thread without anything positive comment rather sums you up. When you start posting your own models here then I might, just might accept your criticism.
I guess that's the thanks I get for trying to keep the GB going single handed. No more though.

It's a nice looking model but you're right, the decals don't quite look right. I built this kit and used BA decals. I can't remember what make they were but they were from Hannants and they look the part. I had the opposite problem though, I painted the blue a bit too high up the fuselage so it doesn't look right and I think it's too dark on mine. Still, yours is still something to be proud of.

I'd say it looks every inch a Dreamliner, and if the white was applied with a brush as is your usual then the finish is exceptional especially when applied over such a large, unforgiving surface area.
