Re: Fenland Aircraft Museum Closing
Has the Hunter out the front found another home? I see it's not listed as a current exhibit.
I know the MiG-29 wreckage from the RIAT crash was moved on a while back

Re: Fenland Aircraft Museum Closing
There isnt a Hunter there.
The aircraft have all found homes and the vast majority of the collection is going to CNAM, I believe the Vampire is already there. The Shack is going up North, the the privately owned Bucc has been sold as IIRC has the JP. The 747 cockpit is going down south.
The Mig went back to its owners at SWAM a while back and the Lightning was sold.
Very sad to see any aviation museum close but all credit to them for their hard work in finding homes for their excellent collection, the archaeology will remain together as I understand it.

Re: Fenland Aircraft Museum Closing
So what was the aircraft that used to sit out the front, in the car park, beside the A47?
I could have sworn it was a Hunter. I remember doing a double-take driving past one day, and looping back to stop and photograph it.

Mike, are you thinking of the Hunter outside the Anglia Motel at Fleet Hargate on the A17?

The A47 Hunter which, last time I passed a couple of months back, seemed to be having a bit of an issue with its undercarriage, ie the mains were retracted and it was sat on the nosewheel and whatever bit of the aircraft touched the ground first? Hope she's better now...
