Newquay, 18/02/16. This arrived to collect 2 x AW189s and deliver them to the Falklands to replace the RAF Sea Kings.

It seems that today is a busy day in aviation history UKAR wise.
I was at the museum in 2017. It was the spring engine runs after the long winter. We were not running but we came in to help all the other teams. The day prior to the runs were wash day.






Even though we weren't running, Lindy got a wash too.



At that time Andre and the team was doing the repaint of the Pre production S2 Buccaneer XN974 . Returning her to her original navy markings. At this point good progress had been made. The weekend was significant for another reason. 2 years prior We had experienced a lot of trouble with 974. So the decision had been made to give her a major overall. Even though not finished paint wise, she was ready for her first engine run in 2 years.

Back to 2017 at the museum, it was run day.

The first to run that day was our Dak. By this time we had ironed out many of her "bugs" and we had learned that in cold weather it was good to take a leaf out of Ice pilots book and pre warm the engines.



A good start to a new season of running for the Dak.




Next it was the Buccs turn. a little teething at first but a successful engine start.




All the functionals were cycled correctly, a good shake down run.













The last run of the day was one of the big ladies, namely the Nimrod.




A good weekend overall, with most of the live aircraft now Det run for the start of another year.
