48 Hour Photo Comp: Silhouettes

Post by Spiny Norman »

Always a favourite of mine and don't think we've done these so far. Going to Leuchars air show so many times facing directly into the sun meant that I probably took more of these than much else.

Think we can have up to 2 per entry as it's difficult to choose and the more great shots to look at the better.

(Extra points for crew members waving!)

Not something I normally do, although I have to admit the Dash 8 is a work of art.
Best I could come up the last time I saw an in service V-bomber, Finningley 1993.

Two chosen from the 2018 Oshkosh Wednesday evening show. The KC-135 before it was abandoned, the B-1B as we legged it to the car as the heavens opened.

Two very iconic silhouettes, both very sorely missed by me at least!

I post 2 pics, as I feel that the first one doesn't qualify. It is nevertheless my best "silhouette" shot (ISS Moon transit - 2017):

And just for the fun of the game:

And did you know that Étienne de Silhouette was a French Ancien Régime Controller-General of Finances under Louis XV ?
He was so penny-pinching mannered that he finally gave his name to this kind of "shadow" art.
