48 Hours Photo Competition - Lumps, Bumps and Pointy Bits
48 Hours Photo Competition - Lumps, Bumps and Pointy Bits
Evening all,
Having pleased Paul with my Norrie shot, I present my theme - lumps, bumps and pointy bits. Basically any "special" versions of standard airframes used for recce, testing, AEW or other special purposes - the older the better! Max of four shots this time as I have four that I want to put forward as examples - my ball, my rules!
First off, Paris Air Show 1989 and the Swedish Tp.88 conversion of the Metro...
SE_AF_Tp88_88003_T_LFPB_19890612_1S by Ralph Lunt Photography, on Flickr
Also 1989, but this time from Fairford, an RC-135 in pristine condition arriving for the Air Tattoo...
N_AF_64-14841_RC135_A_EGVA_1989_1S by Ralph Lunt Photography, on Flickr
A little more up-to-date and another Air Tattoo, but at Cottesmore in 2000 and the arrival of Snoopy...
G_AF_XV208_C130_A_EGXJ_200007_1S by Ralph Lunt Photography, on Flickr
And finally from me, 2001's show at Cottesmore saw a spirited arrival of the worlds largest flying TV transmitter...

On your marks, get set, go!
Cheers,
Ralph

Don't think I have too many for this. Let's start with an EP-3E:
And follow up with a Nimrod R.1:
NATO E-3A:
Does this C-40B count?

Great theme, I love a bit of modification.
Anyone who remembers the EA-3B Skywarrior at IAT in 1991 "Killer Whale", here it is at Van Nuys in April 1997 wearing an F-15 nose.

Wow - some cracking shots there - thanks to all that participated!
I particularly like some of the historic shots such as the EA-3B and the bumpy Andover (had totally forgotten about that one!) plus a goodly selection of Russian experimental and AEW stuff, but the stand-out shot for me is Rebel14/Mark's head-on shot of the Nimrod R1 - I really like that!
So, congrats Mark and over to you for your theme
Cheers,
Ralph

A worthy winner. I almost ducked when I saw it. Startlingly sharp and seeing the co-pilot makes it.
