48 Hour Photo Comp: Biplanes

Post by Wrexham Mackem »

This time I'm setting you the theme of 'biplanes'; you may think 'Shuttleworth', or you may think 'Pitts', although there is plenty of scope in between to see some variety in this thread. Let's see your best three images.
its time to kick the tyres and light the fires

Nice subject.
This is why I love Shuttleworth so much.

Chucking it out to Russia for some, uhh, “variety” is the wrong word, but certainly fun alternatives!

This is the TVS-2DTS, which was only about two months old when this image was taken. Its composite materials are designed to remove all the inter-wing wiring and struts to save weight. And it looks like a steaming hot pile of garbage. 🤮
Image

What looks like an aircraft they kept half in a hangar, half out is actually a little company demonstrator - showing the level of refurbishment they can do. Right down to the squeaky clean nuts and bolts in the engine!
Image

The even more hot-garbage supposed spiritual An-2 replacement, the M-15 “Belphegor”. Looking sorry for itself at Monino.

Wow. This was hard, I could have put three separate entries in at least with the ones I wanted to use!

Another one where 3 is not enough :D
I'll go local with all three from my playground :)

1. An-2 - Vienna Dragon from Polish Aviation Museum Fundation
Image

2. Curtis Hawk II with very special history - rebuilt in Krakow - this exact piece was presented in Berlin during opening ceremony of Olympic Games in 1936.
Image

3. Amazingly restored Sopwith Camel with 11 confirmed kills
