Duxford Diary 2022
Re: Duxford Diary 2022
If anyone is planning to visit today, the Victor is being moved at 9.30 this morning, before the Museum is open. This is for entirely understandable logistic and H & S reasons.
It will then be in the Conservation Hall in Airspace for the remaining work to be completed over time.

Ahhh, thanks!
It is some years since I last went to Duxford, I must make 2022 the year to go back.
...and pray that there's intelligent life somewhere up in Space cos there's bugger all down here on Earth!
Re: Duxford Diary 2022
When did they graft the VC-10 tail on ? Seriously - stunning accomplishment.
Re: Duxford Diary 2022
That looks very nice! But no jokes about spare VC10 tails please....
Re: Duxford Diary 2022
Duxford Friday 22nd April:
Victor XH648 is now in Airspace, where it will be on show at tomorrow's General Aviation Day.
Joining the Victor were Cessna 152 G-CLNB and Cirrus SR22T GTS N45KB. Another Cirrus, N221TN is around for any demo flights required, while Catalina 'Miss Pick Up' is parked for inspection next to the Visitor Centre:
Hangar 5 is now closed for a while for re-organisation, with Shackleton XF708 and other stored airframes moved to the South side of the building.
Next August will see the 50th anniversary of the Shack's arrival at Duxford, how apt a restoration commitment would be !
Spitfire mock-up BAPC398/X4474 is back in position between Hangars 4 and 5:
Aerial Collective were busy today, Buchon 'Yellow 10' is back in service getting shot down on demand:
Spitfires PV202 and PT462:

Re: Duxford Diary 2022
So after the Vampire last weekend, it appears two Jet Provosts and an L-29 today visited today. That's four UK based classic jets in a week - how many are actually flying in the UK at present? A couple of Strikemasters and a pair of Gnats. Anything else? Any more JPs? Or has Duxford seen half of the UK's classic jet population in a week?

Plenty of activity today (mostly before my late arrival !)
Star visitor was Beech D18S N868L, which is moving shortly from Germany to much nearer Duxford:
Another Beech arrived yesterday, in the shape of D17S Staggerwing N18V. Once a familiar sight at Duxford, it is expected to spend some time based here this Summer:
TFC's Corsair was flown this afternoon, joining Spitfire EP120 and Nimrod S1581 ready for Saturday's sold-out Flying Day.
Mew Gull replica G-HEKL visited for airshow practice:
