Queens Jubilee - Flypast
Re: Queens Jubilee - Flypast
Surely it's a 70 formation of aircraft, not a formation of 70 aircraft...
Re: Queens Jubilee - Flypast
According to the extremely accurate Sunday Fail both the Red Arrows and the BBMF are doing a display which is of course a flypast.70 aircraft in 6 minutes is a bit of a long shot and half of those will be choppers probably.

Re: Queens Jubilee - Flypast
Media is reporting 70 plus aircraft with Navy and Army included which makes lots of choppers hence the mentioned 6 minutes to pass over London which was a long time for just the usual RAF flypasts.

Re: Queens Jubilee - Flypast
Only just noticed this, good job I don't go up to the MAF to Friday. One diffrent vantage point is Battersea Park. I watched the RAF 100 from here and it was a great view. You are off to the south of the route by about 1/2 mile. If you turn into the park from Chelsea Bridge Road there is a big car park, cafe and toilets, parking £2.70 for 3 hours on a BH. Its a good alternative if you wat to drive in.
Re: Queens Jubilee - Flypast
The NOTAM has been updated to include Royal Navy and Army. The practice routes have been revised as well.

Has the lineup been announced yet or will we know after the rehearsals next week ?
Disclaimer-I have spell/grammar checked this post, it may still contain mistakes that might cause offence.
Re: Queens Jubilee - Flypast
Didn’t see any AAC helicopters on ADSB for the practice today.
Making a few assumptions it looks like the following:
3x Lynx Wildcats
Puma & Chinook
Battle of Britain Memorial Flight
Phenom & 4x Texan trainers
3x C-130 Hercules
A400M & C-17
P8 & RC135
A330 Voyager (1)
A330 Voyager (2)
Hawk T2 (formation)
Typhoon (formation)
Red Arrows?
A Prefect stood in for the BBMF today, I don’t think the full Texan formation were involved either and just one or two Hawks and Typhoons. I imagine these will be in larger formations. I wonder whether anything will be accompanying the Voyagers. The Reds are still on Springhawk I think, so weren’t in the practice today.

None at the practice today so it seems. I suppose they could join on the day alongside one of the Voyagers.jasonT1981 wrote: ↑Tue 24 May 2022, 1:29 pmNo F35s involved? I'd expect to see them at the flypast.

Remember, this is only those tracked. There might be some not picked up by the trackers.

Not the rumoured 70 aircraft is it?
Re: Queens Jubilee - Flypast
There was plenty not picked up by the trackers! Why do these Mode-S tracking sites and accounts write in a way that implies they speak factually? (Not having a go at you Tommy!)
Re: Queens Jubilee - Flypast
I didn’t see or hear anything over Southend today.

Re: Queens Jubilee - Flypast
Benson have already practiced 3 chinook and 3 puma so would expect that to happen, the voyagers id say will have f35s and typhoons with themFGR2 wrote: ↑Tue 24 May 2022, 12:41 pmDidn’t see any AAC helicopters on ADSB for the practice today.

Re: Queens Jubilee - Flypast
I wonder if one of the A330s will be ZZ336 with the Union flag tail.
Would be quite fitting.

Re: Queens Jubilee - Flypast
I don’t think anything is going over Southend on practice or the main flypast. The local rags have read the Notam boundaries, and got a bit excited (Essex Live for example), and think people will see it all from the seafront.
Re: Queens Jubilee - Flypast
Totally different route today as compared to previous years. After forming up out in the Wash the formation came in over Sutton on Sea then direct to Cranwell
Re: Queens Jubilee - Flypast
Reds are doing flypast with 9 jets.Received their PDA yesterday.

from My London
The aircraft taking part in the rehearsal, according to the guide, included three Wildcats, a Puma, a Chinook, a Prefect, a Phenom, two Texans, three Hercules, an Atlas, a Globemaster III, a Poseidon MRA1, an Airseeker R1, two Voyager KC3s, two Hawk T2s, a Typhoon T3, a Typhoon FGR4 and a Juno HT1.
A Prefect T1, which represents the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, is also taking part in the real event. It is made up of a Lancaster Bomber, Spitifires, Hurricanes and a C47 Dakota. While it did not take part in the rehearsal, it has already been confirmed that the BBMF will take part in the main event.
The RAF aircraft that took part in the rehearsal give us a strong indication of some of the aircraft that will be involved in the day itself, but this is not confirmed yet. We will update the story as more details become available.
I'm planning a 200km bike ride from home to coincide with the flypast at Trafalgar Square then a ride mostly along the Thames and back in time for fireworks!
