Anyone on here familiar with U.S. Airshows will have heard of Shockwave Jet Truck, a much modified Peterbilt semi truck with 3 x J34 P&W jet engines strapped on behind. It is usually seen racing aircraft in various situations at airshows. I saw it in March 2019 at the Yuma, El Centro and Davis-Monthan shows and believe me, it was a very popular act with spectators.
Sadly, I have just learned that, whilst performing at the Battle Creek, Michigan airshow last weekend, it crashed, killing the driver Chris Darnell.
For anyone interested, there’s quite a detailed analysis of the tragic event on the "blancolirio" channel on YouTube.
I was wondering why my pictures of the vehicle on Flickr had taken quite a number of hits over the past couple of days. Today, I found out why.
RIP and condolences to the family.
