UK Trip Week 20

Post by Nielis »

Hi All,

Might be thinking of going to do a UK trip next week.

The bases I want to visit are:
- Lakenheath
- Mildenhall
- Coningsby
- Waddington
- Marham.

Was wondering if anybody could tell me how much flying activity there is at the above airfields.

Thanks.

Knd Rgds,

Niels

Coningsby, Marham and Lakenheath are all good bets that you'll see a fair bit of action but be prepared for possible intense periods of action and other times not so intense.

Both Waddington and Mildenhall can be worth a visit but are more hit-and-miss with regard to how much activity there is on a given day.

Thx, would you also be able to give me a indication as how much waves they fly and how much aircraft per wave?

It is really very dependent on the weather conditions and the day you go as to what goes on; most importantly it is worth checking there are no NOTAMS (eg night operations only) (which may cause a problem!) before you travel to avoid a wasted journey.

There are many videos online which show typical levels of activity, particularly at Coningsby which is by far the busiest. Feel free to PM me with any questions you may have.

I was in Suffolk Mon-Wed this week and Mildenhall was even busy on the Monday with a few visiting KC-135's and a C-17. On Wednesday I was a Mildenhall at about 8:30( more KC-135's, MV-22 flying and a pair of RC-135's) when Lakenheath launched three pairs and was at Lakenheath 10:00-11:00 for their return, the MH-60's were also flying. :yahoo:
