Hi,

Yes you'll need 2 pieces of paperwork , a "Tourist Voucher" and a "Tourist Confirmation" both stamped and signed by the issuing party , eg Hotel or Tour Company.

You'll need these to apply for your Visa along with your Passport and Visa Application paperwork which can only be filled in a printed from the VFS web site http://ru.vfsglobal.co.uk/

Any other questions , just ask.

Just thought I'd post an update on the Russian Visa application situation.

I made my visit to VFS Application Centre 10mins walk from the Barbican tube station in London on Wednesday to make my application for my Russian Visa. As I mentioned earlier in this thread your application must be made in person as the Visa is now Biometric and requires electronic scans of all fingers and thumbs on both hands. Things went very well , all paperwork up together , photos , accompanying paperwork etc but I won't know until the end of next week if my Visa has been granted when my Passport is returned in the post.
The whole thing took around 20mins from start to finish but at £197 for 2 visas it was the most expensive 20mins in my life !!!!

If anyone has any questions just ask

Just an Update to the last Update.............

Both Passports ( mine and my Sisters ) arrived in yesterdays post with nice new shiny Visa's stuck firmly inside. They Visa "page" now contains the photo you have to provide when applying for the Visa. Not a bad service from applying on Wednesday 1st and returned on Wednesday 8th with a double Bank Holiday in between.

So it looks like I'm all set for what should hopefully be a fantastic show. A friend of mine in Moscow said he'd heard from someone at Aviasalon that Mr Putin wants to use MAKS to show the World the "formidable Russian Air Force and its equipment " Rather over Zhukovsky than over Kiev !

If anyone has any questions etc please just ask and I'll help if I can.

Regards,
Ian

Does MAKS announce participation in advance? If so, when might we hear?

Checking the MAKS 2013 thread, last time, it wasn't until about mid-July!

Can anyone tell me the difference between General admission and priority tickets?

We will probably take the bus to the show so the parking is not an issue. Is the view much better with priority tickets on the public days?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you

Here's the info on Priority Tickets from the Aviasalon site........................................

"Visitors who enjoy individualized services can buy a PRIORITY ticket that will entitle them to comfortable customized services in the PRIORITY area on one of the days of August 25-30, 2015. The ticket cost covers access to MAKS 2015, individualized services for Guests, transportation of Guests of MAKS 2015 to the PRIORITY area and back, seating of Guests and services in the PRIORITY area during the whole day, etc. "

For the price of 9000 rubles for 1 ticket for 1 day I'd want someone to buff my shoes and kiss my **** or the other way round if they preferred !!!!!

I've only ever visited the show once on a public day back in 2005 and must say that it was totally rammed ! Seriously , I've never seen sooooooooooooooo many people in one area before. From the top of the grandstand they looked like ants there were so many.

So maybe if you want to pay the 9000 rubles it may get you a good view in the priority area rather than a sardine in a tin. Check out the Exhibition map and see where the Priority Zone is located. http://www.aviasalon.com/_files/upload/ ... _04_15.jpg
No crowds in front of you .

More information about priority tickets here:

http://www.aviasalon.com/en/static/page ... ickets.htm

Also a list of participants (companies, not aircraft) on the website. Surprised at the number of Western countries taking part, including Ukraine?!?

Some flying participants on the website, what you'd expect really:

Russian Knights
Russian Swifts
Russian Falcons
Golden Eagles
Russ Aerobatic team
Aerobatic display team of the first flight flying club
Baltic Bees
Taurida Wings

Not that I'm dissapointed with any of that of course

Admission and parking tickets all sorted. It's now that time when it starts getting "real" as it's not to long to go and everything's booked up and ready to go. :yahoo:

My friend at MiG still reckons that this years show should be a good one as Putin wants to show the World that the Russian Bear ( no pun intended ) is fit and healthy !

Judging by the Participation list it still looks like Money not Politics that make the World go round as once again there is a large list of Western companies taking part even with the sanctions and ongoing situation in Ukraine who ,looking at the list, are also taking part !

As for cash / ATM I've always taken cash and cards and use whatever is suitable for the "situation" and you always get a much better exchange rate Pound / Ruble over there rather than at the Post Office / M&S etc etc.

Can't wait !
