It does seem it won't be long until we have 2 flying Lancasters of our own in the UK! I've followed LAHC for a long time in their quest to fly Just Jane and I can honestly say I've never seen such a well thought out and logical approach to the project. Good luck guys, you are nearly there!

It's worth getting March's Aeroplane (Monthly). It contains a very interesting interview with Andrew Panton about the current work, survey and plan of action over the next few years.

I don't believe a word said. There's no mention of a move to Leeds-Bradford, a new temporary-permanent hangar, a £30m heritage café/gift shop being built and no accounts displayed so as I can scrutinise exactly how many lattes and pringles were claimed for in expenses. And what about that alleged ground roll or that carrier bag incident?!?!!!

There's a gent who makes frequent visits to EK and puts "video diary" style updates on YouTube on what seems an almost weekly basis. Great way to follow progress, almost rivet by rivet.

I've also had a members email in my inbox this morning confirming that the centre is still open, although there may need to be changes made to the restoration plan for next winter depending on how long the COVID19 disruption continues.

I dont think these videos are an official EK source this video channe; provides regular engineering updates on Just Janes restoration

They're a little amateurish but very insightful, these 2 below from a recent winter tour explain the current state of play with things

For those who are allergic to social media, here is the very excellent news Dom was sharing:
**** New airframe and restoration project for the Centre ****
We are very happy to announce that we have started our work towards restoring a Bristol Blenhiem IV, also known as a Bolingbroke, to a running condition here at East Kirkby.
Since 2019 we have been working with Pima Air & Space Museum in Arizona and the Commonwealth Air Training Plan Museum (CATPM) in Manitoba to bring together parts and airframes to the Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre to complete a restoration.
The CATPM have released the following statement-
"The Commonwealth Air Training Plan Museum ( CATPM), located in Brandon, Manitoba, Canada, is pleased to announce they are working with the Lincs Aviation Heritage Centre located at East Kirkby, England in the restoration of a Bristol Bolingbroke.
The Bristol Bolingbroke was a training aircraft used by the Royal Canadian Air Force during the Second World War. Manufactured in Canada as a modification of the Bristol Blenheim, the type served many uses in the British Commonwealth Air Training Plan.
The Lincs Aviation Heritage Centre already had significant pieces of an existing Bolingbroke. The CATPM was able to provide to the Lincs Aviation Heritage Centre a selection of Bolingbroke parts and components surplus to their own restoration needs.
John McNarry, President, CATPM stated " We are very pleased to be able to participate in this manner in the restoration of what will eventually become a running aircraft. This will be very significant in that there is currently only one running/airworthy Bolingbroke in the world."
The plan at the Centre now is to assess all of the parts we have collected and then move forward with a plan of restoration to bring a complete Bolingbroke to the Centre to provide a lasting tribute to the British Commonwealth Air Training Plan and the operational service of the Blenheim IV.

East Kirby has certainly got a lot on its plate with restorations. What Just Jane being restored to flying, the Hampden project (anybody got any news on this, last video I saw it had stalled a bit due to the guy who was leading the restoration passing on IIRC) and now the Blenhiem.

Lots of interesting stuff going on at East Kirkby. Good for them!
I watch Neville Wheeldon on YouTube. He posts a video about once a week or so.
He'd probably reply in the comments section to a request to show these other projects.
The Bolingbroke has far to few examples on display, considering the number of airframe bits I have seen.
Canadian Warplane Heritage had about eight or so at one point (30 +/- years ago).
They abandoned plans to fly their restoration and have decided to make it ground runnable only.

The Lancaster should be airworthy in the next 5 years. This means the other projects which are waiting in the wings will get their turn at restoration. I was there yesterday and the Blenheim projects are with the Hampton, not in the main hangar.

Without even asking!
Neville Wheeldon put up his latest YouTube video. Shows the newly acquired Bolingbroke.
Some interesting action for sure.

From their Facebook page yesterday. The bit in bold is interesting.
****A new aircraft joins the Centres collection****

WELCOME NORTH AMERICAN B25 MITCHELL 44-29366

We are very pleased to announce that we have received another aircraft for the collection at the Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre!

The Royal Airforce Museum announced a list of aircraft up for transfer in 2021 and the required bid process in order to receive one. We bid for the B25 and in August 2022 we were very pleased to receive the confirmation that our bid had been successful and we would be the new owners of 44-29366.

After months of cummunication and planning we finally welcomed the North American B25 'Mitchell' 44-29366 to East Kirkby on the 9th and 10th November.

Maggie Appleton, Chief Executive Officer, RAF Museum is quoted as saying; “It’s wonderful to be sharing this announcement with the Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre. The B-25 Mitchell is an aircraft steeped in history and has many inspiring stories to share - from its original development to the pilots that flew it. I look forward to visiting soon to see the aircraft in its new home.”

Andrew Panton, General Manager, Lincs Aviation Heritage Centre is quoted as saying "It's an absolute delight to be able to bring the B25 to the Centre. The addition of this wonderful aircraft enables us to tell the story of 98 and 180 Squadron prior to D-Day as part of 2 Group, Bomber Command. Our role is to educate the future generations about Bomber Command so they will continue to be remembered and having a range of aircraft operated by the Command helps us to bring their memory alive. We hope to breathe life back into 44-29366 in the coming years. We must extend our sincere gratitude to the RAF Museum for entrusting the future of the B25 to us and to Welchs Specialist Movements for their concientious transport."

The B25 is currently in a museum static condition and while it is sat in pieces in our hangar we will perform a thorough inspection of the airframe. The aircraft will be reassembled in the week starting 21st November 2022.

We hope that the future will see the B25 roar back to life to provide aircraft experiences here at East Kirkby!

See the history of B25 Mitchell 44-29366 here-

That's one of the Hanover Street film aircraft subsequently left at Blackbushe for ages (and used in The Eye of the Needle while there) IIRC. I thought it was on loan to RAFM but I'm probably wrong about that.
