Caribou at Coventry circa 1995

Post by HeyfordDave111 »

Hi guys,

In the mid 90's i heard a drone over my house south of Banbury and 2 x Caribou aircraft flew over in lose formation heading north.
I got a very grainy shot of both in flight luckily, as even though i was at Coventry a few days later i never took my camera :wall:

However, is there a story behind this gathering of Spanish Caribou at Coventry as i'd love to know?
cheers
Dave

Don't remember the reason but remember the aircraft, went up the bank behind the rugby club to photograph them.

Seem to think there may have been more than a pair over time ?

They were on a stop over, ultimately on their way to the states to be re-engined to turboprops. One is featured in an Avion DVD that I have.

Family holiday 2015 had us flying JFK-Orlando with me obviously taking a pic of anything that took my fancy. Seen as im on here, airfields were an obvious target, and reaching the lower reaches of New Jersey, i zoomed in to inspect a photo just taken which showed a number of strange looking aircraft packed in like sardines around a hangar. 25 airframes were eventually identified with some, maybe all of the Coventry machines in amongst them, but none converted to PT power.

Since then, i have caught one that did get converted, N238PT on a stop over at Aberdeen on its way home. Will dig out the pictures soon.
