Sanicole Sunset Airshow 2022

Post by DriesE »

Normally the traditional sunset show is being held on Friday evening, but this time they shifted it to Saturday. Unfortunately it became a very wet edition with a lot of rain and thunderstorms throughout the evening, resulting in a lot of acts being cancelled or limited to some passes. But luckily there was 'Beo' in her F-35 :boom: . Undoubtedly the star of the show.

In no particular order:

Caper just called F-35 shots staggering. Is he okay?

Some of the best shots i've seen on here in a while! Those F-35 shots are stunning!

These aren't photographs, they are works of art. Stunning stuff.

Totally agree with the other comments, absolutely fantastic shots.

Interesting to not the panel rippling/bending in the second F-35 shot. Is this caused by pressure build up?

Wow, extreme PP but it's really made them pop. I'd be interested to understand what technique you used. The F35 panels almost look embossed.

To be honest, I wouldn't call it extreme PP, mostly 'basic' RAW adjustments in Lightroom (contrast, exposure, saturation, sharpening...). Only for the 2nd and last picture I've used Luminar to enhance the details and structure. The light conditions were just extraordinary for a brief moment between the thunderstorms...

I can back that up DriesE. I was at the same show and my pictures almost look the same coming straight from the camera. The light was pretty awesome while the F-35 was doing it's demo.

Impressive and thanks for the response. I'd be pretty chuffed if I bagged a fraction of those. The one that really stands out for me is the departing F-35. The alternating light dark striping in the wing tip vortex is extraordinary and speaking as an Aero Eng geek, the vapour effects on the F-35 especially are fascinating.
