Interestingly, I spotted yesterday, slightly old news that earlier this year, the Temora Aviation Museum have successfully converted their TT.18 Canberra to electric start, and were doing engine runs with a view to getting it flying again, although Covid has put a brake on any notion of public displays for the time being. It was the first ever electric engine start conversion on a Canberra, and when flying again, will be the only civilian flying Canberra outside of the NASA B-57's.
You can (currently, there have been no community cases in the last two weeks anywhere in AU so they might move to the NZ approach of no limits) have 500 people at an event in NSW. While the big 'Warbirds Downunder' event has been cancelled, they have had and plan events with that limit.
This feels like such a shame to me. I was really happy to hear that WT327 would be coming back to the UK, only to have my hopes dashed when I heard she was in the hands of VTTS.
I don't believe that WK163 will ever fly again, and now, we've just 'destroyed' another cancer in the process. I think its sad news.
Its an odd one to say the least. WK163 has probably spent a lot more time with the nose it has now (50+ years), I assume from a B6, than it did with its original nose (10-12 at best). I suppose it did break the altitude record with the original nose, which is fine if its put back into that scheme as it appeared when it first hit the display circuit. All seems a bit of a faff, strange its current nose seems to have succumbed to a lot very recently?
