Hey everyone,
my first time at this venue but hopefully not the last. The steep mountain face in front of the crowdline dominates the little airfield and really enhances the flying displays which were simply fantastic. The plans of the Swiss AF to replace the Tigers helped to attract most contenders plus some display teams and other smaller acts. That in combination with brilliant access, friendly people and the mentioned landscape made this event a special one for me. Fighter jets being thrown around in that narrow valley were an amazing sight and the audio experience sure is something to remember...I fully understand why the Viggen (thunderbolt) carries that name by now, what a beast! Special mention to the Gripen as well which provided the most aggressive and dynamic display in my opinion on both days!
I struggled at taking photos as it turned out I'm a little out of practice shooting at airshows and light was challenging in the afternoon. However, here are some of my better efforts which I hope you might like!

Stunning! Viggen is a beauty!

Guess something got lost in translation? If you consider these are sub-standard in anyway then you are not struggling! Every shot is excellent & framed perfectly on the stunning backdrops. Wish I had been there & could achieve those results.
I'm assuming the landing Viggen shot is an airshow arrival, due to having a backseat passenger?

Fantasic photos
Do you know if there was any announcement regarding dates for next year's show (either in the commentary or programme?)
I will be in Switzerland between 13th-17th August next year, hoping I get lucky

Thank you for posting Philip, great set of photos from an interesting show!

That shot of the German Typhoon in the static really shows what an amazing place Switzerland is.

Hey guys thanks for your kind words. Right, struggling probably was not the right expression ... not a native speaker so that’s my excuse. what I meant was that I had a hard time dealing with a „big“ lens again after absence to airshows in the recent past resulting in a rather low keeper rate.
Yep the Viggen shot in perfect light was the arrival on Friday morning. There won’t be another edition of the event before 2022, don’t know about other shows in Switzerland next year as of now.
Will post some more later
