A scorching day out - thanks to Shaggie for the shade. And ice cream!
Re: Biggin Hill 2010 pics
A good dose of warbird action for the Battle of Britain sequence:
The Typhoon/Spit combination was superb - they made it look absolutely effortless. Fantastic.

Splendid stuff - last one is really nice. These from the same spot as last year, or did you find somewhere better?

Cheers Dan. Mostly from the common at Leaves Green a short walk further north from last year's spot with some (VC-10, Tiffy/Spit) from the field bordering the airfield.

Reds and Typhoon/Spit against-the-sun shots are all superb, Damien - I like the VC-10 low over the tree-line, too.

Re: Biggin Hill 2010 pics
Wonderful stuff, as usual. Every year I promise myself I'll spend one day inside and one day somewhere outside, but I never do. I must remember shots like this and actually do it next year!
First Spit in the second batch is my favourite. The sunlight off the blades polishes off a really satisfying shot.

Anything to avoid you mate, cracked lenses don't pay to fix themselves...
Re: Biggin Hill 2010 pics
The shots against the sun are really cool (!) If I may ask, what kind of filter did you use to get pictures that good?
Re: Biggin Hill 2010 pics
Filters are the work of the devil.
My personal technique is to dial in some serious underexposure when I know I'll be tracking through the sun, close eye as the frame becomes very bright and fire several shots in a row. All you need to do with the resulting frame is punch the blacks up a bit for a deeper blue in the sky. And spent the next 2 days cloning out the dust spots. I leave the bright bits of airborne fluff and lens flare alone.

Another vote for the 'into sun' shot of the Typhoon and Spitfire!

That technique seems to work quite well

Another vote for the Spit/Typhoon sun shot, Damien.
