Airshow HDR test - #1 Raptor - now with 3rd option

Post by Macc »

Was trying out HDR and found it really brought out the detail (especially in the burner!)

Yay or nay?

Just to be difficult - somewhere between the two would be very pleasing - good photo to start with anyway

As a vapour tart I think I prefer the first. Hard to pick one overall though... can we choose both? ;-)

The good thing (for me anyway) is that HDR processing usually screams "HDR!!!!!!!" and your shot wouldn't have set my HDR detector off at all if you hadn't flagged it.

I love the first shot but think the blue in the sky has gone a tad too far for my taste. Its very well done though

Thanks guys, I quite like Egon's idea of a mix between the two, which I'll try later on and see how it goes!
Thanks again,
Chris.

Have to go with the HDR. Why? Because take a look at it. The detail is drawn out and is more apparent by far. Look at the triangular saw tooth edges/lines mid fuselage compare them both. The detail is all there in the new of which HDR is all about (if you don't over do it).

New one is by far better. Even the sky looks more impressive.

I like some of the more Subtle HDR images but lots of them are too overcooked this one is just slightly overcooked giving the dark halo all around the aircraft and the sky is an unatural dark blue
toned down it would be very nice

New one for the aircraft, but agreed with the comments about the sky. Tone the background down just a bit and it'd be perfect. HDR's pretty tastefully done in any case: nice job!

^^^ what he said. The improvement on the aircraft itself is obvious (quite startling, in fact!) but the darker sky looks a tad unnatural. Great shot anyway, BTW.
Posting comments on an aviation-related chatroom, are ya? Looks like it an' all...

Your toned down version is now very nice - however one minor nitpik is that the burner is washed out I would be inclined to make a Layer and put the original burner to the image

the actual image is fantastic

The new (third) one is much better, enhanced correctly without being taken too far, now improves on the original.
