Duxford 16.10.11

Post by DeanW »

Great way to end the season at Duxford today. Highlights for me were the F16 and the Meteor, which was put through a beautifully elegant display. It's gonna be a long, cold 7 months before Abingdon

F-16 burner and Sally B shots for me - super.

Did you go up the mound for these? Was hoping to catch up with you and the Reochs but didn't see you lot again.

Great set, better than I managed.

I was looking enviously at those stood on The Mound, I was over by the tanks. How do you get onto the mound? Is it some sort of Masonic ritual that's involved? Or can any of the Great Unwashed just turn up?

Guilty as charged, yes we were on the mound

The great unwashed were on the mound, its a long walk from the school in Duxford but very well worth the walk.

Thanks all.

Yeah we were on the mound for the whole afternoon, did you end up in the field at crowd centre?

For the mound you just park at the school in Duxford village, £7 per car, then it's about a 25 minute walk along a road that crosses the M11 and runs parallel to the airfield. It's perfect for the great unwashed!

Nice set Dean :yahoo: Does the farmer not moan too much at all the unwashed going on his land or does he cash in??

Yeah, stayed down there with Steve and Mike. The mound was useless in Sept for the F-15E display, so didn't want to make the same mistake again.

Thank you! The farmers don't seem to mind too much, providing people don't tread on the crops, drop litter and the like.

Can't pick a favourite from these, I'm afraid mate. Stunning stuff! Harvard close up, F16 haze shots and the meteor series are all winners

Standing about 5 yards away on the corner of the mound. I see you about all the time at shows and that just confirmed who you were. Like your photographic style fella, especially some of your static work, very inventive.
