The Italian Airforce airshow at Rivolto celebrating the 55th anniversary of the Frecce Tricolori was my late choice of an overseas airshow to attend this year, hoping for some guaranteed good weather. Saturday morning had me feeling like I'd failed in my mission with heavy rain eventually giving way to some excellent weather. The show itself was a good mix of Italian airforce old and new, with several teams also present along side some familiar European solo displays.
Thanks for looking;
Kevin

Super shots, love the mountains in some of the backgrounds

Superb photos
The biggest travesty of this show is the RAF didn't send the Reds!

Not really. If they had they wouldn't have displayed in front of 120,000 at Prestwick. Or tens of thousands at Portrush. Same goes for Typhoon.

Cheers Andy!
Whilst I appreciate the Reds were busy that weekend, given the recent support of the Italian Air force to RIAT, it did seem strange for there to be absolutely nothing. The French and Belgian's did however manage to display Saturday at Rivolto and elsewhere Sunday though, as indeed the Reds did at the last show at Rivolto in 2010

Hmm Nice set Kev.
Ditched going to this due to what I thought would be limited apron space and too many DISPLAY TEAMS!
Some nice shots with the mountains in mind

Cheers Rich....
To be fair it is always going to be more of a team based show being the Frecci's home show but the Polish, Finnish and Saudi teams don't exactly turn up over here much. It did look to involve a lot more military than 5 years ago though, even if a lot of it was just fly pasts etc. Friday arrivals looked worth doing too as static was entirely Italian minus an Aviano F-16 and Spanish Hornet.
Cheers,
Kevin
