Duxford Air Festival - Sunday

Post by Blackbird »

I made the trip, not without some trepidation given the weak lineup and threat of rain and thunder for the whole afternoon. I also bought a grandstand ticket which I'd had second thoughts about from the moment I clicked on the "buy" button. The light was more difficult than I can remember from the many previous shows I've been to.

It started well with PL983 taking to the sky.

This restored runway control truck was an interesting exhibit.

"Nellie" opened the show.

Without a lot of work in Photoshop I wouldn't have had any shots of the Rafale worth looking at.

This was probably the most unusual item of the show - the Schlepp

The T-28 landed after a very abbreviated display. He must have had a problem of some sort. I do like this colour scheme - much better than the French scheme it wore previously.

It was good to see the Swordfish back on the circuit after an absence of some years.

And finally, The PdF

In summary, I enjoyed the day even though the display was, at best, lacklustre. The grandstand seat was perfectly OK - I managed to get a seat one row from the top and had photographers behind me who didn't mind when I stood up. The light was just awful, so apologies if some of these are over-processed.

As ever C&C welcome.

Andy

Excellent selection. Any Photoshopping to improve light not obvious to me.

I was there on Sunday also and can confirm that the light for the early and middle part of the show was awful. I have only just started on mine but each one needs a lot of manipulation in LR. This is one of those times when shooting RAW really helps.

Kudos to you my friend in making lemonade from lemons!
