FINAL UPDATE: DanO @ Headcorn 30/06/2018

This show was so good in 2015, and such excellent value that it was well worth another visit, and once again didn't disappoint.

Like most venues in 2018, unless you have an ultra-long lens there's not too much point in going with expectations of photographing the actual flying display. Everything was very high and very distant - sadly that's the nature of the beast outside of Old Warden in the post-Shoreham world. What you get at this venue is proximity to the stuff on the ground. Really good to see the BBMF on the ground away from home, and the volume of assembled Spitfires and Hurricanes shamed many a show with the gall to charge double or more the £15 on the day (much less with Groupon vouchers) admission.

Impossible to fault the weather conditions, and the flying was decent too. The BBMF provided the best display in the gorgeous MK356, and the visiting Buchón "Yellow 7" would have been one of the displays of the year had he flown closer to the airfield - raking topside after topside in a fabulously aggressive cameo, just too far away.

People shots are very nice, as is the fiery Spitfire photo. Just a shame it was the two-seater parked in front of us.

Really nice set of shots. Perfect angle on that first one, getting a bit of flame from the left hand side as well.

Superb shots
I was fortunate/unfortunate enough to be sat behind Parky's spitfire which went up about 10 times on Saturday.

You should where we were at Worthing....MK356 did a short display over the armed forces day and never went above 500 ft for the whole display which was carried out over the seafront (as opposed to over the sea miles from the shore ) and included a turns towards the crowd and over the lawn where the AF day was taking place. So what are the rules, because I assume in this case , they were clearly broken !

Tbh, it's occasions like this that you 'enjoy', savour & say nothing!
Your unqualified opinion can & will be seized upon by the inane talentless morons that have to put something between the tirade of advertising in the Free Local-rag, leading to an embellished version in mainstream media like the Daily Tripe & Bobs your Aunty!
Game-over. :loser:

Excellent Dan particulary like the clean back drop on the taxiing shots. Looks a nice venue.

Another excellent set from you that depicts (hu)man and machine. Excellent colour balance, detail and composition. I'm definitely seeking out one, perhaps three, of the grass-strip airshows when I'm next in England. Nice work, DanO.

Great photos Dan O, thanks.

Worthing was a 'flypast', not a 'display'. As far as height being a factor, if you have a few hours to spare, perhaps you could thumb through CAP 403, which will put your mind at rest with regards to height and spacing. MK's driver will be well aware of the content and won't have gone lower than the published figures. Why? Because they do this week in and week out, everyone and their dog has a mobile phone with camera, and if you like flying Her Majesty's Spitfires you'd be foolish to break the rules. What about the pilot safety I (don't) hear you shout? Don't fret further, by looking at the pictures posted above they appear to be flying with the mask on, visor down and wearing a parachute, the correct floaty type PPE and fire resistant clothing. Golden on all fronts.
