EAA Airventure - Oshkosh 2018 UPDATED 19/8

Post by Disaster Area »

For those that have been to the EAA Air Venture event(aka Oshkosh) that takes place in Wisconsin, USA every July you will know just how vast the event is, for those that have yet to go, make sure you pay it a visit!

It features some of the worlds smallest aircraft and some of the worlds largest aircraft and most types in-between! This year featured a number of micro-jets and the small French Cri-Cri aircraft(powered my 2 x 12hp engines) right up to the latest C-5M variant of the Galaxy. Also on show during the week were most types in the current USAF inventory and the US Navy had a good showing with various F-18's, Goshawk and other types, we were even treated to a couple of flypasts by the Blue Angels. Warbirds were very well represented with 100's of examples on the ground during the week, the event celebrated the 80th birthday of the Harvard/Texan and countless examples in all types of colour schemes attended.

As you can imagine with 10,000+ aircraft present there was just a few images taken and I'm slowly working my way through them, I've included a variety below for starters and will no doubt add to this thread in due course.

An excellent set showing a good range of types. Exposure, colours and sharpness are spot on. Love the close-ups of the landing big-iron on 36. Can't wait to return next year. :yahoo:
Cheers,

Excellent photos did you spend all your time next to the runway? It certainly paid off. I'm going to Flickr to follow you on there Chris

Maybe I should change the thread title to ‘Lazy Oshkosh’! but yes I spent my time next to the runway. I found a on previous visit that photos in the static parks were cluttered and many aircraft were surrounded by tents or had their canopies covered so next to one of the runways seemed a good idea and I think it paid off. I know I probably missed a few ‘gems’ but not too many!

Easy mistake to make but I think you're referring to an IA-63 Pampa!

Excellent report! Superb shots! Especially from the USAF heavies.
Had the privilege of being present myself for 3 days this year (Thursday-Saturday) and by the looks of it I still missed quite a lot.
You would almost say there is too much to see :hypno:
