Shuttleworth Heritage Day - 2.9.18 - UPDATED

Postby I.Winfield on Mon 03 Sep 2018, 7:07 pm

Hi all,

As ever I paid a visit to the Shuttleworth collection on the first Sunday of September, this time for the Heritage day airshow. As they have all year, the collection were lucky with the weather, with wall to wall sunshine and blue skies, which provided a great backdrop for the highlight of the show, the two PR.XI spitfires of ARCo and Hangar 11.

Thought I'd share a few of the photos that I have managed to sort through so far, hopefully there will be another update tomorrow, hope they are of interest.

Thanks Timuss! Sorry you missed the show, I'm not sure why he has pulled out of Race day though. I was hoping to get both Peter's spit and mustang before he hangs up his gloves, not sure what will happen to them after this season.

The two PR Spits look fab and your panning technique for the landing images is excellent. Methinks that a visit to OW is in order when I revisit England. I look forward to the next installment.

I've got a very similar shot of the Spitfire, but I had to crop it quite a bit to get a half-decent print. I didn't have to do that in previous years using the same lens, so they have to be further out when they perform these fly-by's.

Fine shots Ian, great panning and image quality.

It was further out even compared to the start of this season. At the Spitfire's first show in May, I filled more of the frame at 270mm than I did on Sunday at 300mm. I had to crop mine way more than I would like to.

- mate - a visit to OW is not "in order" - it is absolutely compulsory ...cheers, ronoz.
