A sweltering afternoon at Bruntingthorpe. Impressive to get so close to the sheer power, noise and vibrations of these jets. There were a fair few gaps between some of the taxi runs, with Large Model Association providing entertainment in between. Unfortunately the model Lightning had a problem after takeoff, barely making it over the trees and only returning to the airfield some time later in several pieces, having crashed in a nearby field.
Photography's not easy here though, plenty of background / foreground clutter and the lighting gets more difficult as the sun moves round in the afternoon...

Re: Hot Jets: Cold War
Interesting set of polished shots. You have worked some serious PP. magic on removing the poles, antenna mast & cracking job of making those goddam blue barriers grey!
One of the best action shots (particularly later pm) is the jets returning to the start after their turnaround, but this is ruined by placard signs next to the r/w advising the use of 'Ear Protection'. No S**t Sherlock!
"Penis of the Day" award was unanimously given to the red transit driver (ground-crew) with the Nimrod, who considerately parked crowd-side to block the view of the starboard wingtip passing uncomfortably close to said Transit at speed! Notwithstanding the limited view, it was my favourite run of the day.
