Sukhois supreme at MAKS

Post by p51cjb »

Just back from a fabulous few days in Russia with Ian Allan Aviation Tours - good visits, great company and perfect weather. The highlight for me was Sunday at MAKS on the riverboat moored just south of the display line and we were able to fill our boots with Sukhoi's finest performing all around us, The Su-30CM pair were terrific with a (very) close formation tailslide the highlight of their routine but the Russian Falcons, Russian Knights and the Su-35C demo were also pretty damn good. The Su-57 also displayed twice during the day and showed off its capabilities albeit perhaps a little less dynamically than its stablemates.

Some of these are fairly well cropped to show off the angles we could get and I have no doubt that those around me with bigger and better glass will show off their wares in due course but hopefully you will enjoy these if you love Flankers as I do.

Who doesn't love Sukhois? No Su-34s this year?

I believe it may have flown on one of the trade days, but Sam and I were at the show on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday and didn't see it fly once, despite there being two (I think?) sitting in the static display. Big disappointment, as I've always thought of the 'duckface' as the most spectacular-looking of all the 27 derivatives.
Posting comments on an aviation-related chatroom, are ya? Looks like it an' all...
