Tyabb Airshow 2020.

G'day all,

Ron recently posted his images and comments about this biennial show, so I thought that I'd hold off for a while.
This excellent little show is held at Tyabb Airport, approximately 50km south east of Melbourne. The location is also home to the Old Aeroplane Company, a warbird restoration and maintenance shop, so plenty of warbirds to be seen here.

1. A Wittman Tailwind, eponymous with the airfield that I was hoping to re-visit this year. Sadly, I think that Airventure 2020 will soon be cancelled.

5. A visiting 1965 680-FL Commander. Ted Smith-designed aircraft always look so modern, even when they're 55 years old.

6. This Vibrator is a regular at many SE Australia airshows and fly-ins.

9. The RAAF Museum's immaculate CAC-built Mustang which recently returned to display flying.

11. The airshow had a aerobatic component and who better than 13-times Australian aerobatic champion, Chris Sperou. I've had the pleasure of seeing his excellent displays for almost 40 years. At age 80 plus (yes, eighty!),he shows no sign of slowing down.

12. Another Ted Smith design, an Aerostar which, like the Commander (above), still looks ahead of its time. This aircraft and two other charter aircraft flew a tribute to the airfield's Chief Pilot and CFI who was recently killed in a mid-air collision.

13. The RAAF usually send at least one of their aircraft and this time it was the C27 Spartan.

14. Last but not least, this Cessna Aerobat put on an excellent display of energy management.

I reckon you might be correct. The Antiquers have posponed (not cancelled, ...yet) their 2020 annual fly-in. The last communication that I received was an email to advise that they were thinking about early Sep., 2020.

..--depends a bit on perceptions of "some time"...as I am pretty sure September will roll around quickly, I think Temora should be ok for October & will take a chance on booking a ticket & who knows Oshkosh "could" still happen, but getting there would probably be the bigger challenge!
- very nice set too, you were obviously there early enough to get some of the arrivals.....I think the Kiwi T6 in the gallery was the pic of the bunch for me!
