http://thisisflight.net/airshow-guides/guide-to-riat/In 2022, adult ticket prices begin at £44 for the Friday and £57 for the Saturday/Sunday at Earlybird rates. The standard ticket price is £54 for the Friday and £62 for Saturday/Sunday. Under 18s go free with a paying adult. Tickets must be purchased in advance.

You'll get answers from people with strong views from both perspectives.MattGarner wrote: ↑Sun 17 Jul 2022, 11:58 amFor someone whos never been to RIAT before and interested in going next year - Would you say getting a ticket for one of the areas that have these grandstands a must or can you still mostly enjoy the show by standing/using your own camping chairs? Would be taking a camera to get some photos of the displays but not to bothered about touchdowns/takeoff shots if these aren't possible without a grandstand seat.
Also - When would tickets normally open for those type of areas like Viewing village etc? I can see the have the super early tickets open now for your normal admission.
Any advice would be hugely appreciated!
Some will be adamant its fine without an enclosure, some will say they wouldn't consider going without one.
I'm more towards the latter, because having a guarantee of a seat in the viewing village garden which you can comfortably sit on for hours not having to carry around is worth it, as I'm able to afford it, it's worth not having to drag it around all day.
Equally I can accept it isn't a MUST have, as you can enjoy it without it

There’s a 10 pound discount for multiple buys. That’s 144.75 for Fri Sat Sun.

Just had a look at the Air Tattoo ticket site for next year and it seems there is no Super Early Bird option for Saturday, unless you want to use the shuttle bus from Swindon. Does anybody know if this is intentional?
Re: RIAT 2023 Discuss everything thread
I bought two super early bird tickets for Saturday without the bus earlier today. Have they sold out of the super early bird already for Saturday?!

XD I know they posted on their Facebook page that they only had 500 super early bird left. So may have sold out?

Just looked now and both seem to be freely available. £59 on Saturday, and can add your car parking voucher tooRossbeef wrote: ↑Mon 18 Jul 2022, 1:43 pmXD I know they posted on their Facebook page that they only had 500 super early bird left. So may have sold out?

Maybe they were fiddling with the site. My preference is for the viewing village. Tried public a couple of times but found the village much more relaxed with dedicated loos and food stalls. Also left luggage facility for your own food etc.MattGarner wrote: ↑Sun 17 Jul 2022, 11:58 amFor someone whos never been to RIAT before and interested in going next year - Would you say getting a ticket for one of the areas that have these grandstands a must or can you still mostly enjoy the show by standing/using your own camping chairs? Ill leave someone else to comment on grandstand but I imagine there's a lot of standing up and down and could well be cramped

Re: RIAT 2023 Discuss everything thread
I’ve been to RIAT since 2015. In all those years except 2022, We used a little tent and some camping chairs. We would set up as close to the runway as we could but would never actually get up to the runway as there would be people already set up. The setup we had was fine enough but it would be really annoying on the ground when everyone stands up for no reason whenever a fast jet is ready to fly even though it’s going to be in the damn sky. People tend to only sit down for the helis and the Jordanian falcons. Overall our time with the tent and chairs was perfectly fine if you like casual viewing. For 2022 we moved to the grandstand in the Viewing Village and that was much better. We ended up getting the back row and you can literally see everything. Usually if you’re really into aviation you should go for FRIAT. The only reason we didn’t go FRIAT was because there are 9 people in our party every year and it gets expensive. Also there is limited seating at FRIAT in the stands so we don’t want to go there just in case someone who’s dying for the perfect shot doesn’t get saved a seat. So in short, I’d go for either the Viewing Village or FRIAT grandstands as you are pretty much guaranteed to have the best view possible for the show. I’d only do the chair thing if you were casual. My whole party is quite casual with only around 4/9 of us seriously into aviation. Hope this helps you.

I would recommend the viewing village. Been going to RIAT for many years and much prefer the relaxed atmosphere in the village.
We tried the grandstand a few years back. Great view, I made sure we were on the front row so we could stretch our legs. Seats were a bit hard and after a few hours I had a “numb bum”! Also, your neighbour is pot luck. My son had a slim young lad on his right, on my left I had a guy who, to be polite, was clinically obese and had a personal hygiene problem. He also had a habit of swiping me around the head with his long telephoto lens!!
The garden chairs are actually really comfortable, you can move them around and there’s plenty of room. It’s great having your own loos and a limited set of food outlets (though please let’s have more veggie options next year).
The water bowser was wonderful this year. At least 8 separate taps and I never had to wait more than 20 seconds for one.
You’re very close to the display centre and in fact this year it appeared that some of the displays actually centred on the viewing village. Maybe they confused the village grandstand with the FRIAT grandstand. I did comment to my son several times that I bet the FRIAT mob are complaining as a display centred on us!

There's a (free, with collecting boxes for charity donation ) left luggage facility in the Blue Zone public area too - very useful, as it means you can leave your chair, bag, etc while you walk round the static
Re: RIAT 2023 Discuss everything thread
For me next year. Friday to Sunday in the disabled enclosure then p and v West.
I just can't justify the £300+ for Friat and I wouldn't be going into the stands anyway. Too cramped.and stairs are a problem.

I was considering FRIAT, however it looks like it will only be possible to do Sat & Sun next year, so don't think it's worth buying a full 6 day ticket.
Sticking with Pimms for the Sunday, I usually do the Public Grandstand on Saturday however I may try the Viewing Village instead as it looks more relaxed

Just seen the F35 will replace the Gripen in the Czech Air force. Overall by 2030 most Air forces will have replaced their F16s/gripens/hornets so let's hope for as many of those as possible in the next few years. In a few years the only F16s demos in Europe will be the Polish and Greek, 0 Hornet demos (Swiss AF replacing them with F35, Spanish AF replacing them with typhoons/f35 and Finnish AF replacing them with F35), and only 2 gripen demos with the Swedish AF upgrading to the E model.

Will we ever see a MIG or Sukhoi display jet again? Looks like the best we can hope for is a POLAF MIG29 on static?

The Polish Air force is retiring the SU-22 by 2025 so 2023 and 2024 will be the last chance to see them. The good news is that Radom airshow and Swidwin open day will take place next year and its near certain that the SU-22 will be present. Also the SU-22 Demo will be back next year but I think if the Ukraine conflict is not resolved by then it might be limited to domestic appearances only.Witchcraft24 wrote: ↑Thu 21 Jul 2022, 12:52 pmWill we ever see a MIG or Sukhoi display jet again? As for the MiG-29 there is no more demo team after 4 crashes in a short space of time a few years back. They could still send one for static or a two seat model for a flypast which appeared recently at an airshow in Spain.

Just an update to my previous post:
It's been announced that Poland will buy 48 FA-50 which is pretty much the same Aircraft the black eagles fly. I got in contact with one of my friends from Poland who works at Swidwin Air base and he said they will replace the SU-22 and half of the Mig-29s by April 2024 which means next year might be the last chance to ever see them at RIAT if they attend. The rest of the Mig-29s will later be replaced by F-35A's

Just ordered my weekend tickets for 2023, but I couldn't see P&V tickets anywhere - do these go on sale nearer the time, or did I miss them somewhere...?
