Blackbird at Saturday's BoB show

Post by Blackbird »

A very enjoyable day in weather that was better than forecast.

I'll get the arty effort out the way first.

This immaculate Dragonfly is one of only two airworthy examples. The other is now in New Zealand.

The three Historic Helicopters were one of the highlights of the show, especially the Whirlwind and Wessex. I haven't seen either type in the air for a very long time

You do see all sorts at an airshow...

I also enjoyed the AACHF

A very fitting finale, the Big Wing flypast.

I'm always quick to criticise show organisers for one thing or another, but I arrived just after 9.30 and was parked up (north side) within a couple of minutes; there was no queue for admission, and I was asked to show proof of vaccination. The only minor fly in the ointment was that the Workshop Cafe was closed. I can only assume that the IWM aren't really that short of money.

A good day out.

Andy

The Armoury Café was open. If not where did I get my Cappuccino when I arrived, with members discount, from?. :grinning:

Apologies, it was the Workshop Cafe (now corrected), and lifted from the IWM website, "The Workshop Restaurant remains closed for the Summer, however it will be open on Flying Days (11:00-16:00) and for the Battle of Britain Air Show in Sept (08:00-18:00)."

This is a nice set of pictures. Although I feel I have to say, people should choose to dress however they see fit. I certainly don't dress in a way that might be seen as typical and I'd be mortified if I found a picture online with that tagline. It may have been a joke and maybe it's personal to me because I don't dress in a way which is considered "normal" but I don't find it that appropriate.

Yes, it was intended as a light-hearted observation Ryan. No offence was intended and apologies if you or anyone else found it offensive.

Thank you for your comment on the (rest of) the photos.
