Its a great addition well done Duxford, can't see anything else getting added to that great lineup.
Maybe, maybe not, it seems always to be hard to predict Duxford's next move. Still, if they could confirm Pat. Suisse for October, that would be good.

Wow the Czech helicopters look awesome. Think I last saw a Hind at Leuchars I think it was 2008, Unfortunately I only saw it on the ground as I had to leave before it flew. How about a Czech Gripen to go with them? Shame Duxford no longer have the German Hind on display, that would have been a good photo opportunity….

B-52 is heading up to Uppsala airshow today, so if they're still around at the time of Duxford it'd be quite a coup!

Thinking out loud, What I would like to see close the show would be the Typhoon Spitfire display. The Spitfire handing over the air defence of the country to our current front line fighter. I think that it would be a fitting closing of the Battle of Britain show.

The Spitfire/ Typhoon Duo Display would be fantastic but are the Typhoon Display Team not in Ireland that Weekend, or would it be another Aircraft and Pilot for the Pair?

No, they are not in Ireland.

They are in Northern Ireland ;)

Besides, they don't base here when over. Come in from England, display and return home.

I notice Duxford now has a grandstand in place, not seen it mentioned here before. Whereabouts is it located & is it worth a venture?

In previous years it has been in front of the airliners that are displayed outdoors. I don't know if it was the same for the earlier show this year. The elevation gives you a better chance of runway shots given the amount of stuff that gets parked in front of the crowdline but it is usually a bit cramped.

I also remember in previous years staff constantly walking up and down the steps and blocking everyone's view to go and shout at people in the back row (who weren't in anyone's way because there was nobody behind them) to sit down. Hopefully they'll have gained some more common sense since my last visit (2019).

Anyone been on a friday before know if its worth going to see arrivals or practices? I cant get over at the weekend unfortunately but have got Thursday and Friday off and my 2 year old lad loves aircraft so wondered if there would be plenty of flying for him to see if we went? His attention span for the museum would not be great at the minute but any flying and he is well happy sitting and watching.

Thanks

Been on the Friday a few times a lot less busy but you’d be really unlucky to see nothing fly. Weather dependant of course

Thanks for your quick reply, much appreciated. I have thought that the weather is looking like it could go either way at the minute. I was also hoping to see the czech hind and hip hopefully practice, my little boy loved them at Fairford so thought it could be even better at duxford. Will have to have a think and see what the weather looks like. Thought there may be a fair few practices but i guess if alot of stuff is duxford based they wont need to go up?

That is a shame about the Swordfish but really pleased about the Vampire.

Just hoping the Soviet helicopters make it... it will be absolutely epic to see them at Duxford.

Has anyone here used the shuttle buses at all? I was too late getting a ticket for the car park, so will use the shuttle bus. Looking at getting the train to Cambridge but won't get to Cambridge until half 11, so will not have many buses to get before I'd be late for the flying. Are they normally full (& people left behind) or does everyone get on ok?
My alternative is to drive to Trumpington and use the bus from there. Will be able to get there earlier so will have more chances of getting on a bus.

You could also get a train from Cambridge to Whittlesford which is about a mile's walk from IWM Duxford. It is on the Cambridge to London Liverpool Street line and many / most of the trains stop at Whittlesford as it has a large car park.

If you were a bit late you would at least get a view of much of the flying as you walk.
