Morning all,

I was fortunate enough to be invited up to Scotland to spend a couple of days at CQWI, in the vain hope that I might actually come away with some half-decent images this time! The forecast was horrific, but as it turned out our forays out to the runway and VASS nearly all coincided with the sun shining - and at Lossie almost certainly with the most surreal conditions I've ever shot in...!

CQWI Course 2009

The Combined Qualified Weapons Instructors' (CQWI) Course is designed to provide today's front-line RAF squadrons with thoroughly trained and prepared Qualified Weapons Instructors (QWIs) and with the 2009 edition marking the culmination of a two-year long overhaul of the course, Karl Drage travelled to Scotland to report on how it all panned out.

Cracking shots Karl, just been reading the report, looks like there was plenty of action to be had. Particularly jealous of the Harrier T12s, never seen one let alone shot one, really cool...

These can't have been taken in the UK during July surely........

Another fine set mate, you certainly made the right choice to head north instead of RIAT arrivals, great access and great results but just where did all that sunlight come from?

GR4 079 rotating with the moisture evapourating from the runway is a particularly unique image.

Time for a brew and a read me thinks

Really? I seem to recall that four of the ten Harriers present were twin-sticks! You'd have been in heaven!

Crackers Karl I just love the cloud backdrops in 10, 13 and 15 - adds so much more to the shot. Unfortunately I couldn't make it the few miles to Kinloss this time as I was off on the family holiday - catch you next time perhaps?
