Hi folks,
I'd been down the Mediteranean in October to get myself another proper dose of fighter violence and wokka action while the sun was still shining overthere. This all coincided with the STAREX'09 exercise at Decimomannu airbase, what off course was the main goal of it all.
The taxi down south
Sundays swim into the ocean got cancelled due to this rather rare bird :bonk:
Finally bagged them.....!!
And off course the 15's arrived at Deci as well!
But then the sun moved behind a thick layer of clouds
The next day, 1st day of the exercise
Overshoot
Additional arrival to boost up the 37 Stormo fleet
Afternoon arrivals
5 Stormo was present as well!
As well was Ghedi with their Tornado's
Tuesday's take-offs
Two ship Ra'ams
Arrivals from the other end
Another Ra'am
Ghibli
Sufa
You can hear'm thinking... "What the heck!!"??! ...all those white lenses pointed right at'm! )
But flying straight forth and back, from one airport to another, is old-skool....especially when one has more days left to spend! In these current days of Ryanair, Easyjet and you name whatever cheap-xxx airline you can find in Europe, it is tempting and hard not to fly via back via another airport. I decided to take advantage of the other destinations Ryanair offered from Cagliari and ended up at Marseille-Provence for a stopover of 3,5 days.
Dash8-Q400MR
And off course a bunch of flying boats
I hope you liked them sofar!
Best regards,
A trip down the Mediteranean

And of we go again!
Moody moon shot to start with @ Orange
Shots along the fence are no problem here
Some shots from the tower balcony at Valence
Even better with the sun out!
Visit at Nimes-Garons at the Securite Civile
Rare stuff at Istres

And the final bits for now...
Continuing with Istres, here's PC-7 performing a low approach.
It seems they're still not used to photographers up here!
Local CEV aircraft
Early morning take-off
Mirage 2000D keeping it low
Fennec departure
I hope you liked them!

Looks like a superb trip, lots of variety and some super shots. The first set stand out though, like the F15's and the 37 Stormo special alot

Thanks for the compliments you guys!
I've send you a PM back via Scramble. I hope it helps!
The score at Nimes was about 7/8 EC145's and one Ecurieul of the Sec. Civ. and the Aeronavale sended one Atlantique up. Another example remained on the ground, together with a Xingu, a Rafale M and two Etendards. The visit here was arranged at the Sec. Civ. gate while a group of Eurocopter executives was about about to receive theirs. They just squezed me in before them for about 5 minutes, but that was all the time I needed here.
Best regards,
