After the poor weather of Tuesday and a long overnight drive west along Honshu, the weather had cleared and we had a go at a couple of training bases .
Before these ,the first stop of the day was at peace park Hiroshima to see the A bomb memorial. It was 5 am, dark, cold with crystal clear skies .Quite eerie but fantastic to visit.Just after first light we were at Iwakuni. Bit of a pig of a base , managed to see 4 US-1/2 flying boats here but no photos
Moving on to Hofu the T-7s were active and the rest of the morning was spent here . The afternoon was spent at the nearby Ozuki naval training base to get a few T-5s.
Then it was another long overnight drive to fightertown -Nyutabaru ! Coming soon ............
For now, some pics from Wednesday. Hofu first , then Ozuki .
Cheers, Mark

Re: Japan tour - day 4 - Hofu & Ozuki
Very nice shots of some unusual subjects. What are those side-by-side trainers in the latter shots?

Hi Dan,
They are Fuji T-5 basic trainers .40 built for the JMSDF and developed from the earlier KM-2 , which was in turn developed from the T-34A.
Unrecognisable now though !
Cheers Frank . It was worth visiting. Ozuki was very busy right up until the end of the flying day. We went back again on the Sunday afternoon after escaping Tsuiki show , which seemed to have about half the population of Kyushu island attending !
As you say one for next time . We missed out on a few bases , theyre already pencilled in for the next trip
Best regards,
Mark
