Despite the early deployment of Carrier Air Wing 5, I visited Atsugi last week with the hope of catching a US-1. Unfortunately they didn't fly whilst I was there, but the local JMSDF P-3Cs kept me busy with constant circuit bashing. Luckily, I also caught the departure and recovery of a Kawasaki P1, a USN UC-12, a JASDF TC-90, a YS-11 and the single UP-3C. As I was leaving a lovely green camo JASDF Herc also arrived.

Lovely selection! Shame you didn't get your Shin Meiwas but still plenty of interesting aircraft to be seen. I love the P-1; looks like someone took a DC-8 and "747SP-ized" it (for lack of a better term )!

Very nice. The Kawasaki P1 looks interesting, I wonder how it compares with the P8?
