82nd Airborne Division commemorate Operation Market Garden

Post by Joan le Poole »

Good evening all,

Today the US Army 82nd Airborne Division demonstrated an assault at the John S. Thompson bridge in Grave, the Netherlands. This was part of the commemoration of Operation Market Garden, which took place 70 years ago. This bridge was taken over from the German at 17 September 1944 as Lieutenant Thompson led the 82nd Airborne Division.

Today the 82nd used 5 UH-60A Blackhawk helicopters to drop off the troops. When the demo was over, 2 C-47 Dakotas dropped around 30 paras in a nearby field.

Lest we forget!

One image for now. More will follow.

Thanks for watching,

Joan
