Greek AF RF-4E retirement

Post by Heater »

Today is the official retirement ceremony of the mighty RF-4E from the Greek AF. Yesterday a spotter's day was organized and held at 110 CW / 348 TRS. Spotters were allowed to photograph the daily activities of the wing which included flights from both 348 TRS and 337 SQ (F-16 blk-52). Plus the practice flights for the official ceremony. F-16 'Zeus' solo display, T-6 Solo display, the arrival of two F-16's of Belgian Air Force from 1st 'Stingers' SQ, and a five ship formation including the last three RF-4E's, an F-16 and a Mirage 2000. A small sample of the activities to follow. (light was a challenge, and the aircraft breaking the formation had a tendency to either do it at distance or exactly overhead creating difficulties in taking pictures). Overall though a very well organized day, with quick security checks, very short walking distance from the parking space to the spotter's area, plenty of souvenirs to buy and music.

C&C welcomed

Most of the ppl agreed that, this is the best retirement scheme seen on a Greek aircraft.

And not a single set of step ladders insight. How nice is that.
