Sweden's Pocket Rocket at Edinburgh

Post by Ledhead27 »

A surprise arrival at Edinburgh Airport yesterday was this Swedish Air Force Rockwell Sabreliner Tp86. Now the only one flying with the Swedish Air Force, it is also the only airworthy Sabreliner to based anywhere outside of North or South America.

Sadly I missed its arrival, but was great to hear this little turbojet aircraft rocket out of Edinburgh. And who said the weather is always wet up in Scotland!?

Very envious. Never seen it, despite them having been around for years. Lovely shots.

Nice capture, and a pleasing colour scheme too. I don’t recall ever seeing one.

Is this part of the superb Historic flight?

It's certainly a characteristic little thing, especially with the bright yellow smiley face on the tail of the aircraft. It'll certainly be a shame if the aircraft isn't taken on by the Historic Flight, or at least placed on display at a museum.

2013 I do believe was when it appeared at Northolt. The Sabreliner has actually been to the UK earlier this year, made a visit to Boscombe Down in April
