Grim Reapers at Lakenheath 21-01-2022

Post by stuart n »

Possibly the last time I get to photograph the Grim Reapers flying the F-15. I arrived too late to catch them taking off but they came back before the cloud rolled in.

Ha, quite a few of us were there on the Friday! Nice photos, Stu.

Not sure if the F-15 actually took the cable or not, as he ended up half way down the runway before he stopped?

Nice set of pics. When are the Grim Reapers due to finish at Lakenheath?

Lovely set Stu - the light was sublime.

Scramble are reporting the F-15Cs & Ds will all have left by the end of Feb, although I have also heard end of March. There's nothing official yet AFAIK, although there are some events taking place next week, so maybe we'll learn more then.

Rich Cooper was on base last week working with them and was saying afterwards it is end of March/by April but with much reduced flight operations.

Deffo took the cable but as the guy next to me on the fence commented, they take a while to stop.

Thanks for the info LN & Boff. Ever since they first arrived here I've told myself I must get down there to get some pics. Nothing like leaving it till the last minute.

According to info posted on FC, a tanker that has arrived at Mildenhall today will be used to drag a batch of F-15Cs back across the pond in the coming days.
