absolutely amazing addition. Probably the worst kept secret of RIAT 2022 but great to see confirmation at their end.

Of course, we await it being official and RIAT announcing it. Well done to Peter and the team on getting them! (pending confirmation of course)

They are truly world class, absolutely wonderful to see the plan coming together. And to see them warm up over the Lancashire Riviera the week before will be a bit special too.

I note the term ‘flying in’ as opposed to displaying.

Perhaps indicating they’re only planning to join previously announced 2Excel aircraft at the show.
Flypast with the 727 before taking their place on static?

'Helicopter bore fest, nothing that warrants buying a ticket so far'.

Superb addition. However, one can't believe it's been ten years, feels like only a few shows ago they were here!

Wonder if we'll be lucky to get the Korean C-130 on static also? (that camo )

They are indeed fab. Bet Southport are quite pleased with the date they decided on 🤣

It's an incredible get for sure, but they're only at Southport because it's the week before RIAT, I think that much is pretty clear!

Hungarian Gripen solo dates - nothing we didn’t know, but I hope that the cancellation of Cosford and Antidotum in Poland and the non-aerobatic show at Chievres indicate that they were/are delayed in getting their validation in time for the June shows, rather than anything more untoward 🤞🏻

Excellent news, the Korean Black Eagles aerobatic team has self confirmed at RIAT as part of their world tour. Let's just wait for the confirmation - funny thing is that there is nothing to say that they have even entered talks i.e. the flashing yellow light

The RAF has announced (pending PDA), a joint display with the Typhoon Display Team and the RAF BBMF - the first show is set to be the RAF Cosford Airshow.
Few details are available yet, but could this be a return to something akin to the excellent Synchro75 display from 2015?
interesting, if I remember correctly there was something similar at RIAT in 2015, would be a nice addition

Hey all, finally catching up with the thread and think last time I posted was back in 2019! Wow where have the years gone!
Glad to see some great support this year from all nations considering the current state of affairs!

Be great to see a Synchro pair again, last time was Typhoon GiNA and the Spit in 2015 and was a great display, saw them both at RIAT and Waddington.

Be nice to see the Black Eagles (if true) and would be a first for me.

Still quite a few weeks to have some awesome support and I'm surprised nothing has been announced yet for the USAF seeing as it's their 75th. We had the initial announcement of the Thunderbirds back in 2017 for their 70th and that was late Dec if I remember correctly (or was it early Jan)? I know it's the until its confirmed phrase but usually we get an initial US announcement early May. Whenever we get an announcement I think we'll have some very happy thread goers! Personally would to see a F-15 demo from Lakenheath before they all get replaced by F-35s. All these years of going to RIAT and I would have thought that would have been worked in rather than a flypast plus they are technically a home team!

I'm actually super excited this year after nearly 3 years! Roll on July!

There is no longer an F-15E demo team, so no chance of one doing a full display I’m afraid. And the F-15Es are not currently scheduled to be replaced by F-35s, so will almost certainly be around for at least a decade yet.

What does this mean: "...some of which will be exited in the Ascent Showcase..."?
I put that into Google & it suggests "Somebody should proof-read this s**t before it gets issued!"
The "showcase" area is the static display locations in the center of the showground, near to the Chalets, where some commercial organisations choose to exhibit their aircraft. Andy's reply was correct, Ascent (who operate the MFTS fleet) will be displaying all of their training aircraft fleet together in that area in a similar fashion to their exhibition in RIAT 2019.

Does anyone know if there are due to be any differences between the Saturday and the Sunday (display wise)? Really not sure which day to attend.
As of today, flying display line-up for Saturday & Sunday is identical. (Likewise for the static display). As I briefed at the FRIAT Forum, we've listen to the feedback from 2019 and are working hard to ensure both weekend show days are equal. If you click on any aircraft on the participation list, it shows the days it's available for viewing.

Cheers,
Peter

I get the criticisms of different displays on different days - but I do miss the days when there was so much flying that there wasn't time to have everything display both days.

Personally I like a bit of variety over the weekend - but then, I know not everyone can make both days.

From my memory (perhaps I’m wrong), it was seldom due to so much flying as to not fit it all in, as certain acts only doing one day, such as the BA747 in 2019, or the B-2 flypasts in 2018/17.

Slightly different to Fridays which are more truncated days anyway (which I kind of like - a bit more of a relaxed atmosphere.)

Back in the 1990s glory days there were issues with numbers in the flying display, so F-16s for example would fly one day only, Belgian Alpha Jet would alternate with something else, even MiG29s alternated one year IIRC - could you believe that would happen now?

It shouldn't happen now, after a packed 2018 display where the flying carried well beyond 6 with the Su27 and Finnish F-18 queueing up late, I thought 2019 seemed to finish very early.

Yep exactly... I grew up going to RIAT in the '90s when, exactly as you describe Caper, they would have different displays so they could fit everything in.

I remember my first RIAT was in 2018 and it was jammed pack with flying displays to an extent that an aircraft couldn't fly due to a lack of time. 2019 one was still really good but I think as I correctly pointed, were 4 less flying displays than in 2018.

I'm just curious and about the USAF now and what will happen!

I am that excited that I have tuned in for an update, only to discover that it's still only Wednesday.

Back into the Cosford thread for better luck.
