I guess Im a bit of a glass half full guy :-( , so was delighted when skimmed the email to see F35B flying, but disappointed its not a full display, as Ive never seen the B version hovver. The noise when the F35A took off in 2018 was ear busting. But then in 2019 we just had a couple of flypasts, which it sounds like it is this time. Is there a reason it doesn't do a full flying display. Is it because they havent got a display licence ? Cheers.

Was at Waterloo Bridge waiting for the flypast and gave a little fist bump when I saw this. Ticket bought on the spot. Cannot wait! Well in DBH!

Because they don’t have a display worked up. If they had a demo team and it was only a flypast, maybe questions might be asked? But it seems that the folks at Marham are extremely active at the moment. Fingers crossed for one in the future and for the US to provide their display.

That is again a very nice update! Especially the U-2, KC-46, P-8 and that they expect some aircraft from Canada.

Still hoping for something from the other 'ongoing' nations like Egypt, India, Qatar, Thailand, Turkey and Zambia. Also hoping for some States side US fighters which are currently on deployment in Europa make it to the static. Imaging: Hornets, F-15's, F-16's, A-10's. Jammie :star_struck:

Just had the following conversation with my very excited son:

Me: hey look at this update. An A-4, U-2 and a 757 that'll be flying. That'll be cool.

Son: will there be a bouncy castle?

🙈🤦‍♂️

A-10's and F-18's have already gone home.

Ahh, I know for most people its a boring display or a toilet break but I wanted to see the wildcat display, it seems to be avoiding every airshow I am attending this year :P
Wildcat is now static only

Really surprised and impressed with New Zealand bringing a 757 for flying from the other side of the world.

Now I've got some hope from the Thai, Zambian, Egyptian and Indian air forces.

It seems the Black cats team wont actually be at RIAT at all - instead the Wildcat will be provided by 825 Naval Air Squadron. Weird as their schedule was released today with RIAT on. The Chinook is still TBC along the Czech Gripen and ALCA demo too so they might be static only too?

As for the ongoing USAF assets which could be in the air - I can only think of the Osprey and F-35, unless they are talking about flypasts. For potential USAF static aircraft: Maybe C-17, KC-10, C-5M, B-52, B-2, B-1B, F-16 and with some super luck the A-10.

And I am hoping either the RCAF or the RAF bring a C-17 over to the static display.

It’s a shame the Wildcat isn’t flying, however the strength of this update is absolutely outstanding.

An A-4 has been on my wish list for years, and if it materialises it will be a massive highlight for me.

RZAF 757 is a great catch and isn’t displayed that frequently over here, it’s a cracking display and offers more variety to an already vary varied flying display. Add the KC-46 and RAF P-8 and that’s 2 more firsts for the show. The quality and variety for this years show is fantastic, in the current climate we really should appreciate this line up and I’m sure the guys at DBH are working extra hard to attract even more rare and interesting types.

For me a couple of Turkish Phantoms in the static, a small scale jubilee flypast, and a US 75th flypast with European based assets, MC-130 with 2 Ospreys, KC-135 with 2 F-15Es, KC-10 with 2 F-35s and possibly one or 2 of the B-52, B-2, B-1B in the flypast would complete the show perfectly for me! Just praying for good weather!

A4!!!!!!! Breaking my duck on one of these at the age of 55..... :grinning:
After the disappointment and cancellation from the last show? I'm very much fingers crossed for this. Now can we just squeeze a couple of low passes in before landing
RNZAF 757 in the flying...NEVER disappoints!

Tickets booked Wednesday, Thursday and Friday...
Is it too soon to talk about the weather?

You might still get your wish as the F-35 was only down for a flypast at Yeovilton in 2019 but it went into hover mode, heard the only reason it didn’t do it at RIAT that year was due to it burning up too much fuel waiting to come in (could be mistaken about that but must be a reason why they did it at Yeovilton the week before and not at RIAT)

iirc operators pay for aircraft transiting costs & RIAT pick up the crew accomodation & catering costs
Incorrect, but I'm not going into specifics on a public forum as it's not appropriate or required.

It seems the Belgian F-16 will only display Friday and Saturday
News to me if so! We're very much planning for them to display Saturday & Sunday, and we're still on course to deliver two identical flying displays over the weekend.

The Royal Air Force does not have a worked-up display routine, or approved display pilot, for the F-35B.

On the U-2 static, depends what airframes are there at the time of the show, but currently the pair are (I think?) 80-1076 and 68-10329.

If the latter is there by the time the show comes around, it would be great if that was the one they tow to static. She has quite a cool history: https://dragonladytoday.com/2022/05/14/ ... urite-u-2/

In 2017 I remember when the U-2 was confirmed for static, but apparently requested to do a display but were denied (not by DBH, but I think from someone above).

Would a U-2 display involve a high speed pass...at 70,000ft?

(During which they'd photograph what was in your sandwiches).

I think the guys were def up for some form of demo (in 17) but the request didn’t get approved in time, at least this is what i was told by the crew’s by the static example 👍

Great update. I saw the NZ 757 display in 2018 and it was fantastic. Great to see more USAF added including the U2 and still talks for the flying from USAF :)

Nice boost to the RAF static and the A4 is a cracking addition. Sad to see no Wildcat display now, but over-all it's shaping up to be a great show :)
