Armed Forces day

Post by mirage 69 »

This event will be on various locations in the UK.
Does someone know if there are events were planes from RAF participate?

I'm in the UK that weekend (Mildenhall), maybe I can take advantage of it.

Best bet is to head to Scarborough on the 25th for the bigger military displays of the weekend. Failing that Cleethorpes has a decent selection of the military displays on the Sunday

Scarborough should have the RAF Falcons parachute display team, the Red Arrows, Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Spitfire, Hurricane and Lancaster and the Typhoon display.
Weather permitting, of course!

Edit:

Just in case anyone was thinking of coming by train, there's a 24 hour strike that day called by RMT affecting Network Rail and various train operators so I would be very surprised if we have any trains on the 25th.

The timings for Scarborough's flying displays on Saturday, according to the town council website;
1030 RAF Falcons
1125 Flypast by RN Merlin, Wildcat and Seafire
1300 Red Arrows
1400 BBMF Lanc, Spit, Hurri
1430 Wildcat (heli)
1500 Navy Wings Stinson
1530 Seafire
1630 Typhoon
All displays over South Bay, there will be some road closures and parking will be hard to find but there are park and ride facilities. Traffic's usually heavy anyway so it'll be fun! (No you can't use my driveway!)
