Sorry it's not about anything Swedish or French, but the Black Eagles came into Stansted last week - Escort Vehicle Group posted up embargoed photos today on Twitter for those who use it. 9 truck convoy.

There’s also been photos shared on FB, of the first “reconstructed” one flying from Boscombe Down in the last few days.

A nine truck convoy is only enough vehicles for three T-50's.............3 for fuselages............3 for wings.............3 for tails + all the other stuff!!

There have been 2 convoys so far with 1 more expected very soon, each convoy transports 3 aircraft.

Sorry if this is mentioned or discussed before but will the confirmed Qatari Hawk be in full Qatari markings? The image does show the roundel so I guess it will be. Has anybody more info on this one?

And I also read somewhere that the first fully Qatar marked Typhoon is spotted flying. Any changes it will be alongside the Hawk? Qatar is still flashing orange...

It'll be in the colours of the 7(?) that are at Leeming, presumably! Qatari roundel, British serial number.

Hence why the SwAFHF made THREE UK MAINLAND flying display appearances in 2019!!!!!! (Not to mention the likes of the Breitling Jet Team at numerous events, Flying Bulls in 2018 etc etc. )

Therefore we go back to Mike's point that there is no blanket ban on SwAFHF 'displaying' in the UK.
I stand corrected, apologies and thanks for the information. So based on that, they can display over water but would need to revise their routine to display over land correct?

Seven MK.167 Hawks have been delivered to 11 Sqn at RAF Leeming, with two left (one flown - ZB138 and the last yet to fly, - ZB139)
All delivered jets are in full markings of 11 Sqn with British serials. (ZB131-ZB137)

2x Qatari Typhoons are currently painted up at Warton.

As its getting close to the time us that are attending arrivals days have to wonder weather to go East or West (is best). I was wondering whether Charlie North will be open in time for the show and if not how that will effect ops as a fair bit of stuff would have to backtrack the runway. and would that restrict further what may go down as far as west? I suspect only Peter et al would know or be able to shed some light on this? If anyone has any theories or knowledge to that end id really appreciate it.

I'm a bit uncertain myself, would normally just be at the Eastern end (unless the wind is Easterly) but I'm wondering (if CNorth is unusable) whether the usual mantra that 27 is the most efficient runway to use will even apply this year. I would have thought 09 would be, in those circumstances. So maybe if the wind isn't strong W/SW they might alter the usual plan a bit.....hoping the wind strength and direction makes it an obvious decision this year because otherwise I can see a lot of us ending up at the 'wrong' end!

Praying it’s not 09 arrivals - it’s usually the worst of all worlds for P&V at either end! Hazy distant shots at West, and cluttered ground shots at East.

Maybe the best option is to take a punt on the Wednesday with whichever you think, and then you’ve got the Thursday if you fancied the other end?

I suspect it’ll still be 27 arrivals.

It will be open to aircraft less than 41m. The parking plan has taken this into account, so 27 is still the preferred runway for heavies.

Well, it depends on wind direction & what you want to see really. If you like nice approach pictures/views & they're on the usual runway 27 direction (East to West) then P&V East is for you. Busy there, but plenty of room & a specific ladders section usually. If you like your photos to have a nice background & taxiing pictures then 'West is best' as they say. I've been in both fairly regularly & both have their merits. If it's 09 arrivals then I choose west every time personally...

You are able to move between the two as you please throughout the day, so there's no pressure really. See how the land lies on the day.

if you want them airborne east is good, like others have said the area around the touch down is busy however the ladder section towards the road has loads of room normally. Ive only done west once in 2017 and the heat haze make its a real challenge for touchdown shots.

I'm confused re departures, website says sold out but some say tickets are available on the day? Surely the airfield is large enough to accommodate all who want to view departures?

You're not on the airfield (well, I suppose technically you are) - you'll be in one of two pens, one at the eastern end or one at the western end. They have a finite capacity, and of that capacity a certain percentage of tickets are sold in advance and a certain amount sold on the gate.
